Forums - Sony Discussion - Convince me to get a Vita

Tagged games:

I am probably the Vita's biggest champion, but at this point even I can not suggest it. The platform is just to out dated and loosing more support every day.

The lack of access to Communities, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Vue, and PlayStation Music are bad enough. Then they went and killed Skype earlier this year taking away support for phone calls and video calls.

Thanks to the lack of a 4G model, and the extremely scarce and over priced 3G model, it is bascially limited to offline gaming anywhere but at home. The limited and overpriced storage make things even worse. In the chance that you do get a 3G model, you are limited to 20MB downloads, so hope you don't forget to update something, or want to grab anything from the store while you are out and about.

All in all Vita is just done. If you are a collector, or want access to spin off games, then Vita may be worth it to catch up on PSP and Vita titles from 2005 - 2013, but their is no future for this platform.

I would suggest spending money on PSVR, or waiting for a portable PS4 sometime in the next 3 or do years.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

I...honestly cannot come up with a convincing argument as to why you should, at least now, especially if you already own recent Sony consoles. Maybe if you really want to play some of those games on the go, perhaps? Even then $150 seems like a lot for a console that presumably no one will be making games for soon.

One other thing to note is that in general nintendo hardware is much more sturdy than sony's.
I had 2 psp 2000s. Both broke after one drop at 120cm. While I did hear that the vita was a bit better...
Meanehile my batterd DS lite still works, although the hinge is broken which is why I got a N3dsxl

Eh, never had a single system broke on me.

Except for my Master System, which my brother broke with grape juice and later for good opening it and trying to fix it, lol.

Then again you never had a PS handheld either.

Playing PS1, some PS2 games and indie games in a portable format was my major selling point for the vita. Sure, they're not exclusive but a lot of those games can only be played on the go on the Vita. And if if you don't care about that then the exclusives are nice, but you've already seen the lists. If you don't care that much about them then sadly you may have to skip getting a Vita.

it sucks. I know. But you can't play every game in existence. Especially with how expensive games are in Brazil. So buying hardware for only a handful of games you may or may not like is a very difficult decision to make.

Vita plays PS2 games?

They ported MGS 2 and MGS 3, Jak and Daxter Trilogy of games, Ratchet and Clank PS2 games were ported, FF X and X-2 were ported, God of War 1 and 2 were ported and I "think" the Sly Cooper PS2 games were ported. You can literally get every mainline Final Fantasy game to 10 (FF IV was a 2D remake on the console so you might find that better than what was on the DS or not), you can get MGS 1 -3 on the thing.  It's coming to the Switch, but Sony even ported Resident Evil Revelations 2 to the Vita as well if you want RE1-3 + Revelations.

One of the founders of Vita Island, Greg Miller has given up on Vita. And hes been beating the Vita since the start. It has a good library and im sure you can get one for cheep, just know its a dead handheld.
