Not a whole lot of people care about Western games either outside the biggest AAA ones, just in the past 12 months games like Mess Effect, Dishonest 2, Prey and Deus Ex bombed like hell, and who talks about games like Styx or The Surge, while Nier, Yakuza, FFXV, Nioh, Zeruda, Tekken 7 and Persona 5 sold great.

Yes but Pachter will probably say "mario" is a exception to the rule.

Hes just plain wrong about this matter.

There are lots of people that really enjoy these games, for them its why they get a console.

Gears of War : Made in Canada.

Forza Horizon : Made in UK.

Killer Instinct : Made in UK.

Minecraft : Made in Sweden.

Mass Effect Andoromeda is sold 1.56 mil (not included digital ,PC )

For Honor is sold 1.76 mil (not included digital ,PC)

But he wouldn't say  Mass Effect and For Honor are niche. 

BTW, Resident Evil 7 is sold 2.64 mil (not included digital ,PC)

Monster Hunter double cross is sold 1.56 mil (Only phisical)

Japan is just one country. If we make such comparisons, can we please compare Japan with the US, Canada, France, UK, Poland, Russia, ... each separately.

2. Horizon: Netherlands

3. Mario Kart: Japan

4. Resident Evil: Japan

5. Tom Clancy: France

6. Pokemon: Japan

Ouch, I wasn't aware how much Japan still dominates game-sales. Well, in the TOP 10 are 5 games from Japan one each from the Netherlands, France, UK, Canada and USA. If you put the other ones together as western games - Japan still can compete on the same level. But that already are a lot of countries put together.

Money, also a lot of more recent immigration, with stronger cultural ties to the continent.
