And I cannot believe that i bought and just couldn't get past the first level with those controls. A missed chance for both me and Nintendo .

So, I played the original Paper Mario 64 and recently finished it.
At my first attempt, I thought it was very similar to TTYD, but now my opinion have changed.

While TTYD may still be my favorite PM game, I can't unsee how much IS copy-pasted from the original one: number and in some cases even the structure of chapters, partners, abilities, scenes, and at some point even assets.

Now I value a lot more games like Super Paper Mario and Color Splash. It would be boring to keep playing the same game.
This is the same fear I have with BotW2, and hopefully it is not way to similar to the first one.

I some what agree if you played the original the second game while great reused a significant bit from it I think a lot of people joined the series with the second game so to them the series just changed so rapidly.

The thing with BOTW is the much higher complexity in depth compared to PM, gameplay in BOTW is so customizable that the same approach in the sequel wouldn't really lead to the same type of experience as with sandbox gameplay you tend to add elements to work in tandem with returning elements this in turn adds a lot more customization to how you can play which is why GTA is so consistently successful. An example of what i mean is players in BOTW are afforded the freedom to do things like the below in new playthroughs meaning each time you play can be significantly different.

It could be. I joined the series with TTYD, and after Super and Color Splash, also wanted a new one in the same vein as TTYD. But after playing 64 that’s no longer my desire. I’m ok with them changing the mechanics.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

It's June and we still have almost no idea of Switch's lineup for the rest of the year beyond July. This is really fucking with my nerves man. I just wanna know if I'm gonna have anything to play for the next 6 months or if I'm in for another Wii-U-esque drought.

Is it really that way? Because you strike me as a guy who needs perpetual anxiety in order to feel comfortable, meaning that a state of anxiety is part of a routine that is of necessity for you.

Anxiety is indeed a big part of my life at the moment, but not by choice, trust me I'd like nothing less than to relax. At present I could list like a dozen various things that are stressing me out, this just happens to be one of em, games being one of my main stress management tools and all.

If you don't like stepping out of your comfort zone as far as games are concerned, you should at least look through the entire on sale section on the eShop this week. There are hundreds of games on sale right now, so it's a good opportunity to stock up on games that interest you and maybe even take a chance or two on something else because it won't cost much.

I'm fine for games at the moment, I just don't like the future being uncertain and unknown. Just knowing what to expect in August/September would be a relief.

Far out I'm glad I didn't let Digital Foundry and the like convince me not to buy The Outer Worlds, it's the best games I've played in quite a while.

The sheer variety of different ways it can be played depending on your choices is remarkable, the writing is excellent, and the combat is as good as some dedicated action games. The port definitely could've been better, and it sure ain't a looker, but I'm liking it a lot.

I mean most of the praise the game received wasn't on the merits of it's graphics alone in the end, so I wouldn't be surprised if people could enjoy it for reasons people also love games like Fallout : it's world-building, story and characters.

And the gameplay, but yeah pretty much. The core game itself is definitely worthy of the immense praise it's received in my opinion, and I kinda feel like it's a shame so many will skip it on Switch just because of the graphical downgrade, it's definitely one of the top 10 games on the system in my book.

I got up to 88 jumps in the annoying rope jump mini game in Mario Odyssey ugh I was so close

Thinking of picking up Link's Awakening as an emergency backup game in case the second half of the year has nothing worth buying.

How is it as far as difficulty goes, is it like a lot of old games where it's quite obtuse what you're supposed to do next or fights can get frustrating?

This is the Zelda game that introduced the owl which serves the same purpose as in Ocarina of Time. Link's Awakening has also plenty of "phone booths" in its world where you get hints anytime you want to. LA is a lot more linear than previous Zelda games while it maintains an illusion that it is an open world. The most obtuse part in the overworld is the mandatory trading quest, but there aren't all that many characters in the game, so it's not too bad.

The difficulty isn't high and the remake has more heart containers and pieces than the original; there's a reason why a hero mode with double damage got added to the remake. Dungeon design in the latter half of the game is confusing at times because of all the stairs and underground passages that lead you to other places of the dungeon, so sometimes it takes a while until you remember where exactly you should go next.

Alrighty, that sounds manageable. I never played the original as I never had a Gameboy, but I do like A Link to the Past which I see this game compared to a lot. Meant to get it last year but I ended up so bombarded with games in the second half of 2019 I never had time to buy/play it. XD
