This is the Zelda game that introduced the owl which serves the same purpose as in Ocarina of Time. Link's Awakening has also plenty of "phone booths" in its world where you get hints anytime you want to. LA is a lot more linear than previous Zelda games while it maintains an illusion that it is an open world. The most obtuse part in the overworld is the mandatory trading quest, but there aren't all that many characters in the game, so it's not too bad. The difficulty isn't high and the remake has more heart containers and pieces than the original; there's a reason why a hero mode with double damage got added to the remake. Dungeon design in the latter half of the game is confusing at times because of all the stairs and underground passages that lead you to other places of the dungeon, so sometimes it takes a while until you remember where exactly you should go next. |
Alrighty, that sounds manageable. I never played the original as I never had a Gameboy, but I do like A Link to the Past which I see this game compared to a lot. Meant to get it last year but I ended up so bombarded with games in the second half of 2019 I never had time to buy/play it. XD
