Lol, it took me about an hour to beat The High Road. People are starting to use a glitch where you can travel over the bridge's rope, but that seems like cheating to me. So I did it old-style XD. I felt really rewarded once I finished the level (Road to Nowhere was pretty tough too). Those were the two levels that gave me some problems, the rest of them rank between easy and normal difficulty imho.

Once I finish the game, I'll work in getting the gold relics (platinum are maybe a bit too much XD) and gems. First, I'm focusing on finishing the game, then coloured gems, white gems and relics at last.

Really?? That really is a faithful remake if they kept THAT in the game.

...awful levels though

Yep, they were faithful even with the glitch. I found that pretty funny, I'm sure it was intentional XD.

I remember that Slippery Climb was pretty hard in the PSOne version, but I'm not entirely sure why, this time I found it easier. But The High Road was definitely much, much harder in the remaster. Or it's just that I've got worse .

@Barkley, I must say, I'm not sure if it's even possible for me to get the gold relic of The High Road without using the glitch. "Turtle jump" is really slow, and I'm not sure how much time do I have to get that relic. And even with the rope glitch, it's hard as hell XD. Keep going!

That's because in the original you could get a height jump from the first jump on a turtle in this version you basically have to do it twice making gold relic I think impossible if you want to dismiss the ropes and turn all the turtles around.

Exactly. Unless the gold relic times were changed because of that, I don't really think it's possible without the ropes...

That... doesn't really sound like a glitch to me. There's other levels where there are alcoves or whatever at the sides that you can use instead of running/jumping through the difficult section, those are obviously intentional so why wouldn't being able to use the rope at the side be the same?

Maybe it isn't, I've always thought it was a glitch back when I play the game in the 90s. They kept it in the remake, so... I guess we can say it was intentional in the remake, but I'm not sure if it was intentional in the original. Still, it felt like cheating to me, so I went through the bridge like a normal bandicoot would do XD.

Just reached The High Road level that people have been talking about. Holy crap, I thought Road to Nowhere was annoying. How the hell did Sony market this as a kid's game back in the day?

Gamers were made of sterner stuff back in the day.

As a kid "back then", road to nowhere made me quit the game for a few weeks. Just sayin'

I don't think kids cared.

When I was a kid, it didn't matter how hard a game was or how many times we had to replay a level or even the entire game. We just kept at it and one day we were like "Holy shit. I beat it."

The evolution to mainstream (thankfully) made things less frustrating, more accessible, and more streamlined. Sometimes you need that retro challenge to make you appreciate what we have nowadays!

*Edit* ignore the post before this one!!

I beat the High Road. I think Road to Nowhere gave me more trouble. Still I swear this game should be rated M for Mature due to all the foul language it elicits from the player.

I've just beaten Cortex Strikes Back. It was a better experience than the first one. Levels are more varied, the difficulty curve is more balanced gems are more fun to get... I've only had some troubles with a couple of levels (Bee-having and Spaced Out were a bit hard, but obviously easier than those first game bridge levels). Awesome game, for sure. Now, I'm loving Warped even more than the previous games.
