Forums - Sony Discussion - Crash Bandicoot reviews

I played Crash 3 first back in the day then I played the 2nd one. This is my first time playing the original Crash Bandicoot. Holy crap it's difficult! I just beat Ripper Roo by luck. One of the levels before that took me nearly 30 tries to complete.

I have bad news for you about the later levels in the game... They're not going to get any easier! In fact, they get harder - a lot harder.

By the way, was the level you had trouble with Native Fortress, by any chance?

Pretty much on par with what i expected. These werent crticially revered titles even back in the day so after 20 years they aged well enough.

2 and 3 definitely were.

Crash 1 - 80 (Game Rankings)

Crash 2 - 88 (Game Rankings)

Crash 3 - 89 (Game Rankings), 91 (Metacritic)

A high 80 average isnt critical acclaim, come on now. Its great by all means though.

I do find it funny though how the easier the series got, the better the reviews. Maybe people should go easy on critics, it appears they were casuals even 20 years ago :^)

Crash 3 is in the top 2.5% reviewed games of all time on Metacritic, I'd call that critical acclaim.

88 is an excellent score.

According to Metacritic 91 is "Universal Acclaim"

As a matter of fact, it was. Fuck that level! I am pretty sure the Tom Cruise movie Edge of Tomorrow was inspired by this game, or at least  the novel it was based on was.

Not all of them though. There's definitely some hard ones later on, but some of them are much easier than earlier levels. Toxic Waste is one in particular that I found really easy despite being towards the end of the game.

Indeed I was honestly worried about the later levels but even getting the relics wasn't that hard. Crash 1-2 relics have the same issue how smaller the levels how harder they are to complete for getting atleast a gold relic.

True, but there's also a lot more harder levels. The general trend in difficulty is that levels get harder.

How odd I guessed the level correctly... It's not exactly an easy level, I suppose.

How the hell do people like you do this? After nearly 2,000 trophies I have not platinumed a single game yet alone these difficult monstrosities. I guess I don't hae the patience, motivation or skill. And how did you do all of that in one weekend? How many hours did you put in? What else did you do during that time?
