That includes special editions or inferior editions with some stuff left out or some gameplay changed.
I'm almost confident about this one. What say you?

I don't think it's that bold if they just lower the gralphics and make the online functionality worse.

I'm really worried about this one. I don't know if Capcom will bother with some form of downgrade to fit the Switch (although it's coming to the PC, so it will have to fit low power rigs) instead of just making another MH for the Switch. They are going the wrong way with this, you can't alienate your fanbase after years on handheld, then suddenly no handheld at all and no localization.
No, I think monster hunter world is just a console spinoff for the non-handhelds. Capcom already has Monster Hunter XX for Switch. Then MH 5 will come out back to the handheld of Nintendo Switch. (Switch is a handheld that can be docked)
I'm honestly really surprised this game was happening. I made a thread a long time ago (back when I got banned 3 times a week) about how I was sure Monster Hunter would be coming to PS4. But I didn't expect this.
I honestly just expected a port of a handheld game for Switch and PS4. That way they could make money selling one cheap game on multiple platforms. Maybe the PS4 and PC market is just big enough in Japan to (along with Western sales) carry this game to victory. But it seems like an incredibly risky , maybe unnecessary move? Either way, it's benefitting us greatly. Game looks awesome.
I'm kind of worried that it will have microtrabsactions though.

It depends how well MHW sells. If it sells okay (between 2 and 3 million) then I can see a MHPW (Monster Hunter Portable World) with a bigger emphasis on local co-op and some of the rougher gameplay mechanics removed, and the cherished gameplay mechanics that might've been taken out returned.
If the game sells less than 2 million or just barely more than 2 million, then I can see them just making a new classic monster hunter game with some of the popular changes in MHW inherited and much better visuals exclusive to the Switch or as a Switch/PS4/Xbox/PC multiplat. This could be called MHP5 or just simply MHP.
While I do think it is a possibility, however if Capcom is fucking over Nintendo fans just to crawl back on their hands and knees they better be giving us something better than a lazy late port.
After all the success Nintendo fans gave the Monster Hunter series, I'd expect no less than an entire new main series game.

The game is PS4-only in Japan, I thought?

It wasn't meant like that . I just dont know how theyll get voice chat to work, or if the UI for Switch online features will be similar to PS4s or Bones
