People are sick of RDJ at this point, get rid of him.

This is the only poster I've seen, the International poster...  it was posted on the Spider-Man Facebook page, and I think it looks great, maybe you could add this to the OP;

Great, thanks! I'll add this.

You're welcome, and yeah it's definitely a huge improvement over the first one, didn't even realise there was a poster released beforehand, but it looks like someone has spent half an hour watching a Photoshop tutorial on YouTube then slapped that together, lol... I really like the second one since it has a ton of emphasis on Spider-Man and Vulture, both of them taking up like 90% of the image, with Iron Man thankfully just off in the corner... don't get me wrong, I like Iron Man, but they need to stop making him the center of attention in the MCU, it's getting pretty ridiculous lol.

Agreed! A bit too much Iron Man happening here. I feel he's featured almost as much as Spider-Man in the main poster. The way Iron Man's flying in the bottom left of the poster looks very forced as well. I get they want to advertise the fact that Iron Man's in this movie, but geez!

the Amazing Spiderman 2 poster looks cool but then I noticed how the background is upside down, and now its just throwing me off

That first poster looks like the generic style of a lot of movie posters, where they try to fit the faces of all the main, and some of the bigger supporting cast.

Putting RDJ's face up there as the biggest and at the top of the poster would make the uninformed think that RDJ is playing the role of Spiderman. That's stylistically bad in what is a kind of derivative movie poster design.

Looking a bit familiar?

Except the Star Wars ones are actually well done. The second Rogue One poster especially is a Masterpiece.

Just goes to show how wrong you can go if you don't get what makes a classic a classic.

To be fair, Star Wars has been known to use this kind of poster for decades (since Empire Strikes Back I believe). I think in this case, it's passable because it's a franchise tradition, even if it might be a bad one.

That's what I'm saying. The Spiderman poster is derivative. Art in general is always somewhat derivative since one thing inspires the next. But you can get too derivative, and also get it wrong.

I don't think I'd ever call a movie poster a masterpiece. And the Rogue One poster is no exception. Some movie posters become iconic because the movie itself becomes a significant piece of cinematic history. Rogue One will not be that either. Out of all the Star Wars movies only the original movie is a truly significant piece of cinematic history. And thus only the original Star Wars posters are truly iconic.

Yeah. I saw how they were going for a Star Wars-esque poster design and it immediately threw me off. Star Wars has mastered what goes where on their style of poster. In the Spider Man one I was immediately confused because the way its frame it makes it look like RDJ is either the main character or main antagonist -neither of which are true. That part really bothered me. It feels like Spider Man was an afterthought in the poster. I dont know how to feel about that XD

The second one does look better the first one looks like they paid someone bottom dollars to quickly photo shop a generic movie poster.
