If Horizon's numbers are correct, then it'll be a major seller and a major playstation franchise. Its first week numbers are superior to the likes of Uncharted 2 and TLOU. Also better than any of the killzone's games, by far. It will be GG's best selling game ever 3 weeks in, at the latest. It will possibly sell 7+ million WW, which is huge.

Zelda, for all its critical accolades (which I think it ends up being overrated due to nostalgia, but I digress), has never really set the world on fire in the sales departments. That is, no game has ever reached the 8+ million sales (if you count a single sku and not combined re-releases).

It will be very interesting to compare sales numbers of Zelda BotW and Horizon at end of March or April, those numbers of Switch version are just for two days of Switch on market with low stocks. And yes, this Zelda looks like at least 7m+ seller.

The more appropriate number would be a quarter or two from now, when Switch has more than just the one game to sell and Horizon has also had the chance to establish its legs (or lack thereof).

I agree with the bolded, though that just puts it at the top end of typical Zelda sales.

Attach rate will be huge for Zelda espacily in 1st year, and becuse its one of best games ever it will be must have Switch title, so it will have great legs.

Only 2 Zelda's managed to sell 7m or more, this could become best selling Zelda ever.

Nowhere did I say it wouldn't have great legs.  But if you say the launch effect will carry further than just a single quarter or two (which i don't think it will, by that time the game will stand on its own and not on the back of "well I bought a new system") then push out the timeframe to look at it to this time 2018.

When there are only 1.5 million machines available to play BotW and 85% of those machines' buyers purchase it, that is expected and awesome really. There are 56 million PS4s out there and only 3% of those owners bought Horizon. Not awesome now is it? Kind of sad really.

There is actually closer to 15 or 16 million machines to play BotW, but hey, you just keep ignoring facts to present a story you want there.

Wait for a game that A LOT of people in the prediction thread said had no chance against Zelda and said it won't sell more than 2 million lifetime this is amazing for Horizon. Totally did not see it coming personally. So great job to GG and Horizon this game will easily outsell every Killzone game at this rate. I can't see how so many people are saying it is not surprising when it seriously is. Unless nothing just really surprises you all now a day lol.

And that attach rate for the Zelda on the Switch is crazy! Is that one of the highest ever? Both games will have great sells and from what I have seen, read and heard both definitely deserve the sales!

About 3% of PS4 owners have bought Horizon so far. Over 70% of Switch owners have bought BOTW. I don't know the attach rate figures for Wii U, but I bought on Wii U. There are 13 million Wii U owners, about 2 million Switch owners and 55 million PS4 owners. Why would it be surprising if they sold about the same amount? Also, why do people absolutely insist on comparing these 2 games?

I have no idea why people insist on them comparing the two games over and over.....and so from what you are saying because of install base you just assume that every game that releases would sell about that much first week(exclusive or multiplat)? It is surprising because of GGs track record of games with the highest one being slightly over 3 million sold lifetime. And it is looking like HZD will pass that easily seeing as it had sold over 2.6 million after only 2 weeks of release. It is surprising beecause GGs mostly made only FPS games and this was a new venture for them making an open world game.....and the pulled it off amazingly both with critic appeal and sales. So yeah the sales are indeed amazing for HZD AND for Zelda.....

Wait why is that sad? So selling 1.8 million for a game first week is sad because there are over 56 million systems sold.....so by that logic almost every game released after a gen is off and running sad......because you won't find many games opening at almost 2 million sold first week. Especially exclusive games....

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

PSN: StlUzumaki23

Great numbers for both. They seem to have met the expectations gamers wanted and then some. Great news all around.

Color me surprised. I personally enjoyed BotW a lot, but I haven't bothered playing Horizon to find out if one is really better than the other.
