I don't hate those. Just don't like as much as other people.

Frozen and most of the new "cartoons"
Super Heroes (especially Marvel) movies
SW Episode VII

I miss the days of Disney making actual hand drawn animated movies. Now, it's all CG... And even if they look visually impressive from a design point of view, the magic and merit isn't quite the same.

Indeed. I don't know if those were hand drawn (I believe The Little Mermaid was the last one), but I still enjoyed a lot Beauty and Beast, Mulan and Hercules.

Yes, they were all hand drawn, but the last few ones (like Tarzan) had computer generated imagery mixed in.

Oh. Good to know. That's why those were still magic!

Forgot to mention Aladdin.

The Matrix, I never really watched it though. It was so boring that I fell asleep which never happens to me normally.
The Lord of the Ring movies are also boring and lengthy in my opinion, I hate them. I don't even know if I watched all of them.

You are not worthy to call yourself human!

Not just that, 2001, City of god, Lawrence of Arabia and Dr Strangelove are all amazing movies. But you do have me curious what kind of movies are your favorites.

Films in the IMDb top 100 that I score 8 or higher:

- The Shawshank Redemption (9)
- Schindler's List (8)
- Pulp Fiction (9)
- The three LotR films (9)
- Fight Club (9)
- Forrest Gump (8)
- Inception (9)
- The Matrix (9)
- Seven Samurai (8)
- Se7en (9)
- The Silence of the Lambs (8)
- The Usual Suspects (9)
- Leon (9)
- Saving Private Ryan (8)
- American History X (8)
- The Intouchables (9)
- Raiders of the Lost Ark (8)
- Rear Window (9)
- Terminator 2: Judgment Day (8)
- Whiplash (9)
- The Prestige (8)
- Alien (9)
- WALL·E (8)
- American Beauty (9)
- Aliens (9)
- Reservoir Dogs (8)
- Full Metal Jacket (8)
- Toy Story (9)
- Inglourious Basterds (8)
- Snatch (9)

Ah, I don't care much for Schindler's list, Forrest Gump, Se7en, The usual suspects and Wall-E was kinda boring. Agree with the rest though.
I only really hate Gravity, such a waste of special effects talent.

I rarely hate movies since they are only movies. But I find 2001: A Space Oddysey to be one of the most overhyped, uninteresting pieces of crap to ever hit the sci-fi realm. In my view, that movie is a perfect example of when people celebrate something because of the director (who I usually adore), not the actual content of the film.

I love movies. I especially love good movies. Of course quality is subjective. Sometimes movies that critics and even general audiences love I find lacking or downright abysmal.

Some movies that come to mind:

The Revenant

Gladiator

Donnie Darko

Into the Wild

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

The Babadook

Just to name a few.

jesus how do you hate Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? even if it is someone's cup of tea you have to admit its quite clever and filmed well.

I agree with you on Babadook although I would argue that its not really THAT critcially acclaimed. The Revenant I find a strange one too because its undoubtedly made extremely WELL.

I suppose iI find some of those picks strange in terms of them being 'abysmal', they seem far from that. Critics rarely are THAT far off.

I will say personally that I watched "The Hurt Locker" years ago and really didn't like it, and it had like a perfect rating.

you just don't sound like much of a movie person though... if you're falling asleep during a regular 2 hour movie like the first Matrix then you'll probably fall asleep during like half of all movies...

I understand the argument of the LOTR films being a bit long. I suppose I struggle with this thread because its difficult for me to suggest I 'hate' a movie if I simply dislike it, while also being able to seperate that objectively its a good film.

Its like someone else mentioned 2001 A Space Oddysey on here- and I'm not a huge fan of it either, I find it too long, but objectively I obviously can pull myself out and say its well made and hardly hatable

what's the context of 'hate' here? a movie that gets on your nerve? a genre you don't dig? I think for someone who's a big fan of film to 'hate' something it has to be pretty shitty. Maybe the thread should be rephrased to 'dislike'. I mean jesus people probably hate "The BLair Witch Part 2" or whatever, that was awful. but someone mentioning they hate Wall-E? seriously? at worst its a so-so film.

I can really only say Avatar. I was like. This is way too close to Fernguly, and a few other movies. I couldn't get past the idea recycling.

Never quite got the Sixth Sense hype..

"I see dead people" Litterly that. The comerical alone, is what propelled that film. It was everywhere.

Frozen. Girl gets mad then happy. Boring.
Mad max fury road. Ppl drive in desert then turn around and drive home. Boring.

Horrible movies.
