Forums - Gaming Discussion - Five reasons why Nintendo Switch needs to have an achievement system

I could care less for an achievement system. As long as it doesn't force me to play the game in a certain way ,... I am look at you Ubisoft and Assassin's Creed,.. I wouldn't bother.

Achievements are just a way to try to make bad games look more interesting.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

While I don't agree with your reasoning completely, I would really like to see achievements for the Switch

If there's going to be an achievement system, I'd rather have something like getting 100% in a game gives you 10 My nintendo coins vs achievement points or fake trophies.

The best system would be to get eshop credit for 100% completion, like $1-$2.. It's not much, but it increases eshop sales which already have high margin in profits, and encourages full play through of a game, which should equal higher satisfaction.

People even buy games they normally wouldn't just to get achievements. Thats potential profit right there.

This is making fun of achievements, right..? I mean, I already experiment with the different mechanics in video games on my own, and playing games already offer their own rewards for playing them. Achievements aren't needed to do that.

While I loathe to take Rolstoppable or their threads seriously - this is a good thread. And that is a perfect point.

It gives you a reward to going after or doing things you wouldn't otherwise do. I really enjoyed platinuming KH 1.5. Although I gave up 2.5. Just sooo much new content and it is quite repetitive.

Achievements are fine, and definitely add value to certain games. I'm currently a few achivements away from getting '1000000%' on Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+.

But global achievements are a joke, and only serve to diminish the meaning of the word. Handing out participation awards for trivial milestones necessary to progress a storyline, or promoting mindless grinding to artifically increase the game's content.

I do like the idea of being able to display (true) achievements from select games to your profile, which is the best of both worlds.
