It was expected but it is good to see that it is 100% confirmed :)

Gamekult: What motivated the choice of such an open, systemic world?

Eiji Aonuma: The wish to create an open world game came shortly after Skyward Sword was finished. We realized that the way you flew from one area to another, with no opportunity to walk instead, had frustrated a lot of people who wanted to know what was hidden between the regions. One of the greatest thrills of the Zelda series lies in exploring and looking for hidden things, so after a few preliminary tests, we reckoned that the Wii U had the power we needed to create a satisfying open world – one that would allow players to visit the entire world with no loading times. Everything stemmed from that intention.

I will ask a friend to play it for me and tell me if it's comparable to Skyrim. TES VI: Hyrule...

I would have been surprised if it did.

Were you surprised when Witcher 3 did it

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver had no loading screens but the one when you start the game after turning on your PS1. It was released 17 years ago, and yes, was open world, you could fast travel even from the very first area to the last one and had no loading screens...

Or bringing up Xenoblade X, running at 100 mph or flying a mech at 300 mph.

That's still one of the most impressive feats of engineering on Wii U in my book, that you can move through XCX's massive and detailed world at such speed with no loading screens.

No loading screens in an open world game? Are there no bounds to Nintendo's innovation?

This joke is getting old, nobody is talking about innovation but when the most praised open world of the gen has load times you never know, the news make sense.

The actual joke is a game with constant loading times calling itself open world.

Except shrines so far.
Posted a few loading times two days ago.

Loading the overworld takes around 30s

Restaring after a death seems to be around 15s

Shrines looked around 10s, although that loading time should depend on the size.

Yes, I remember from the E3 gameplay there are loading times going in and out of shrines, and they were... actually kinda long (like at least 10 seconds). Still, I guess it's only a minor nuisance.

Hmm. Was E3 Wii U build I imagine. So hopefully only a few seconds for Switch then.

But either way, Shrines seem to be one and done things, so that's not so bad. I don't see any reason to ever re-enter them, if you even can after beating them. So no load times in the rest of the game is steller then.

During E3 we saw in the opening area a shrine that had an inaccessible chest with Link's current tools. There could be some backtracking if you want to get anything.

Neither did I :P

But Fallout 4 is not even close to be the most praised one, people actually seems to hate it :/

They hate that it's not Skyrim, but to be honest, I don't think anything short of The Elder Scrolls VI: Akavir in 2018 will trump Skyrim...
