Better launch than the Wii U maybe, but the Wii? No way.

I'm talking about the launch year/window.

Yeah, in the first 9 months the Wii was out it got

Loz:TP

Madden 07

CoD 3

Super Paper Mario

Madden 08

and Metroid Prime 3

between then and the end of it's first year it would get Tony Hawks Proving Grounds, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Fifa 08, NBA Live 08, Guitar Hero III, and Super Mario Galaxy.

The Switch doesn't have nearly that kind of lineup on the way.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Ya they have some similarities, although you could find some things it has in common with Wii U as well so we can't really determine it's success based on what you have listed.

Pretty much word for word what I was going to say.

This reminds me of the "PS4 is the new PS2" early on after the PS4 launched. I don't think the market is poised enough for another Wii and I don't think Switch is the product to achieve sales on that level.

It shares just as many parallels with the Wii U, as others have already pointed out. I'm still waiting before I post my personal, complete opinion though, there are too many questions yet that remain unanswered, or at least only partly answered.

I see it easily being 3DS level of success, it has both the home and handheld console market, and it will have all of the 3rd party's exclusive 3DS franchises i.e. Monster Hunter and Nintendo's home and handheld game franchises all on the one device.

the switch has Zelda Breath of the wild, Splatoon 2, Just Dance 2017, Mario Kart 8, Dragon Quest 11, FiFA, Steep, NBA 2k, Skyrim, Xenoblade chronicles x 2, ARMS, Super Mario Odyssey, Sonic Mania, Sonic Project 2017, fire emblem warriors. Now put little games like disgaea 5, Dragon Ball xenoverse 2, Rime, Bomber man, Dragon Quest 10 and Dragon Quest heroes 1&2 etc. We have some more stuff that are not system sellers but they are good for the library, and this is what we know BEFORE e3.

So I don't know man, that looks like a pretty good line up of games and again, that's what we know. So whether you like those games are not, ports or not, to me that seems like a good start for the console and I'm more excited for this lineup than I ever was for the wii line up, which was pretty good too. Not saying that is going to be more impactful than the wii, cause there's nothing like wii sports on the switch, but speaking about games/quality, switch is better imho.

It's literally got a lot of the exact same franchises you just mentioned coming i.e Zelda Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Fifa, NBA2K, Fire Emblem Switch 2018 and Fire Emblem Warriors, plus like 50+ other games coming this year such as Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms, Skyrim, Sonic 2017, Sonic Mania, Yooka-Laylee, Minecraft, Dragon Quest, etcetera, etcetera.

Looks to me the Wii didn't nearly have that kind of lineup on the way.

It isn't redeeming anything for me though so I'm not sure where that's a parallel.

With Wii vs Switch, I think the lineups are pretty close in terms of big names and such. I personally disregard ports like Mario Kart 8 as being a major factor, but the lineups are close enough so that we'll have to play the Switch lineup and compare it game for game against Wii. We also have to assume nothing is getting delayed for Switch, as well as nothing else being announced for this year. Both of those are unlikely.

To be fair, this is a bit more egregious then that example because they was atleast after sales had started. This is more like if people said it would be the next PS2 because 2 and 4 are both even numbers.

...

It's more like PS Vita 2.
