Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Jimquisition on Nintendo Switch [Brace yourself]

Imho it's too early to judge the online, we have no price, we have no idea of the quality of the servers, we have no idea if there will be sales on games for people who buy into the online service, imho talking right now is just useless, until we don't know what Nintendo will offer us how can we suggest how to fix it ?

Also the Mario-Sonic 06 was total nonsense

I'm a big fan of Jim, in fact I approve all of his videos about Nintendo's shitty YT policies but this to me seems an episode made only to profit on the hate that invaded the internet due to the lack of info from Nintendo

Great video. I love Nintendo and want them to succeed just like Jim does but there's so much bullshit surrounding the Switch it isn't even funny.

However, I have toned back on my issue with pricing after hearing that Wii U didn't make Nintendo any money since it released. They're looking to make a profit and they'll achieve that with Switch and software on the Switch. Even if they don't sell as many as they'd like, at least it'll be recouping R&D costs and adding profit in the process.

Nintendo's online structure is so far a joke. They want you to use your phone for voice chat...that's the worst idea I've ever heard. I thought since NVIDIA was co-developing the Switch, it'd have some basic functions already built into it so Nintendo wouldn't have to worry about it...I guess not.

The eShop and Virtual Console. Why they wouldn't talk about this is insane. Especially with the catalog that they have. As Jim said, Nintendo has the abilitiy to crush anything PS+ and Xbox Live have to offer in terms of retro content but they refuse to do so. The Switch should be more than capable of making a slew of games avaialable for Switch launch. There's no reason why every single Nes and Snes game shouldn't be available on day 1. Is that too much to ask...maybe, but its the principle that matters. It's a simple matter of making a universal emulator available on your platform.

We have hackers making Gameboy Advance and Snes emulators on the Wii that run near perfectly. A universal emulator for each console should be achievable on Switch. Nintendo acted like Yoshi's Island couldn't be put on Wii Virtual console because of the special chip, I've played it on Snes9xgx perfectly. Are they really that incompetent? NES, Snes, Gameboy/Color/Advance, 64 and Gamecube games should be ready to go day 1.

I just wonder sometimes what's going through their minds. Do they even remotely pay attention to the other console makers that are simply destroying them in market share? They used to care back then about things like that. When Sega came out with Genesis, they didn't spare any time getting to work on the Snes. They cared about what the competition was doing and they at least tried to match them, along with their own hardware quirks that put them over the top.

Nintendo needs new leadership, end of story.

I pretty much agree with everything he said. big fan of Jim here btw!

Funny and I agree. Nintendo being a tad bit too much nintendo.

Oh well. Still got zelda

He says the service sucks unless it's "Less than $5 a month". I'd just like to point out that that's exactly what I paid for XBL and PS+. The odds are pretty good it'll be less than that.

Carry on.

I think he's trying to say that PSN and XBL are $60/year. Their service needs to be cheaper and he doesn't think it will be.

Not really, that was also precisely what I was reminded of immediately when first seeing Mario in a realistic city. I even mentioned that in some thread here some days ago. Twice.

Obviously though, this Mario game is made by a team of developers that can only ever make stellar games, so it's pretty unlikely that this one will be different and that Sonic 06 rubs off on Mario Odyssey.

There's something about him... I usually agree with him, and yet while agreeing I dislike him (or rather his online persona/character), and still I'd like to watch more lol

That little conflict with those guys who made garbage Steam games was a lot of fun to follow

I think he's wrong in surmising another Wii U level of sales if this is the best Nintendo can do with the things he's criticising. This is after all a handheld + home console, and there are still 10s of millions of people who will buy a Nintendo handheld. But perhaps like 3DS, which was overpriced at launch and was looking quite poor in sales, the initial sales of Switch might be lower than desired and Nintendo will, say, sell a sku without the docking station for $199(?) and things will take off from there.

Regular game releases will be important of course.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8239481 was my post during the stream the instant it appeared.... Seeing a character like Mario alongside Normal humans is just jarring, completely breaks the fantasy game world he is in.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Genuine criticisms to be fair and what he says is born out of frustration. He genuinely wants Nintendo to do well so its not a rant driven by hate for the company. I personally was not blown away by the presentation but I can see real potential and hope Nintendo harness it.
