Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo stock down 6% following Switch presentation

It will go down more. The current level is just back to the Jan 10th levels.  Sell sell sell.

Yup.
And what's crazy is the fanboys in denial who deflect and defend Nintendo's console to the end (vs 3rd party development)
Ignoring that Nintendo ALREADY IS GOING 3RD PARTY, with Mario Run on mobile. And it's clear more is coming.
Why shell out $ for over-priced dubious Switch when the same games could soon come out on mobile for all we know?
Nintendo themself just blessed the smartphone as a center for Nintendo style gaming, after all.
Of course the Mario Run episode also cemented in public's mind the idea that they overcharge for weak product.
Absolutely out of touch.

Eh. I just want Zelda.

Luckily I can play that on my Wii U.

6% is within normal fluctuations, so we need to wait until we see any trends. That said, I was not pleased with the Switch conference, so I won't be if Nintendo's stock exhibited a negative trend.

Isn't this guy posting literally almost all the bad-news anti-Switch thread? Damn man, don't steal all the job hahahah. Well, i'm sure Mario Run made them fall worser than today.

I have to believe now that Iwata was about 99% of the personality of those presentations. Seriously, one of his presentations could have had people cheering along to this even despite the less than stellar reveals at times.

They need to bring back those digital presentations imo.

Yeah, when I first saw the HD rumble feature I was super hyped because I thought that Nintendo might be making that the central innovation of the console. Depending on how advanced this feature is, Nintendo could have possibly created another fad like the Wii was and built games around the rumble feature like what Wii Sports did for motion controls. Unfortunately, I am getting the feeling now that the Switch is another Wii U rehash where Nintendo just doesn't know exactly what this console is supposed to be. Is it a console, is it a handheld? (2 - 6 hour battery life doesn't give me a lot of confidence) Is it going to use a traditional controller or are motion-controls the focus? Is the rumble feature going to define how games are made for the Switch, or will it be something that nobody bothers with utilizing? The Switch seems to want to be everything and Nintendo is just throwing a bunch features out there and not really pulling it together into one succinct message. This is what is driving up the price but without a clear message as to what the Switch's purpose is, I don't think that people have been given a good reason to pay this price.

I was not particularly a fan of the Wii, but I have to say that Nintendo was pin-point in their messaging of what that Wii was meant to do. When you bought a Wii, you were getting motion controls, simple as that. When I buy a Switch, I really don't know what I am getting right now. I know that there are not many games coming out at launch that interest me but that is about the only thing I am sure of right now.

This was not a great presentation. Nintendo needed to fork lightning with this event and showed how much they learned from their mistakes with the Wii U. Instead, I am seeing something that looks even more confused than what the Wii U was. Nintendo cannot afford another screw-up, the Switch needed to be better than just "OK" given Nintendo's current situation but I am not sure that it even meets that very low bar. I am just hoping that this was a weak presentation and that Nintendo will get their messaging figured out very soon.

It wasn't a bad show, but it wasn't necessarily a good one either. Unfortunately Nintendo needs a good show, they kinda put a lot of pressure on themselves too by being so secretive and not showing information for long periods of time, then when people aren't immediately blown away disappointment sets in, I think Nintendo should try to give out information more often to avoid this problem.

It wasn't a good show. They doubled down on Wii and are praying or a repeat but I don't see it. Who makes a game where you don't even look at the damned screen? Nintendo. The presentation was slow, awkward thanks to translators and had little sizzle outside of the Zelda trailer.

Maybe the stock market is saying knock it off with Wiimotes already.
