Yes if you have children and you don't provide for them you're not a good parent. But if you don't have children then are you not a "real man", because then you wouldn't be performing the primary function that you state.

Every relationship is hard.The moment anything needs the concent of more than one person is complicated.So I completely, and actually support your decision to take a time for yourself.Take this break to take a time for yourself.And when you finally feel like you are ready again, jump back into the game.Making the decision to stop sering someone important to you is always very hard, specially when it seems like it was her that caused the downfall of the relationship.
My advice is:take things easy for a while, like you planned.Do things you love, hangout with friends, and dont go into things with high expectations.When you are good again, take another shot.
