Muk, mr.mime, jynx, squirtle...uh, I think we've realized some of the names are strange.

Also, in all honesty, it sounds like you're whining more than you're actually criticizing. it seems as though change is hard to come by for many gamers. if these games were atrocious they wouldn't be achieving record sales. pokemon xy was controversial and look at the sales. far from bad but it certainly underachieved for a leap in pokemon.

Pokemon fans have been complaining about the lack of a better story. pokemon black and white executed it well but we quickly went back to "lol let's take over the world".

Sun/moon is returning to the franchise you loved for 2 decades. Instead of a stereotypical bad group wanting to take over the world, we're  going back to punks who simply want to mess with you. or is different this time since there's no nostalgia to support team skull?

Edit: what was wrong with the link You Sent? that song was actually greatly composed. now I really feel like you're bashing on sun/moon just because it is sun/moon( similar to how people bashed Infinite Warfare because it's infinite warfare)

I'm not saying other generations were devoid of it (bad designs and names), I'm just saying this one probably takes the cake.

I can always accept change, but there's a difference between a good and interesting new change on something and a COMPLETELY RADICAL CHANGE ON ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING just for the sake of changing things up. Even then, if this was a different franchise, I might have been fine with it - the problem is that this is Pokémon, and as things go with Pokémon, it means that everything that was changed and every addition that was made will stay forever.

Also, I'm not really sure how exactly XY was controversial, much less how it underachieved in sales. From what I've seen and know those two statements are simply false.

As for the story, Team Skull, nostalgia and all that stuff, I don't really know how to reply to that. Personally, I really liked the story in XY. It was simple, yes, but that doesn't mean it was bad at all - it had memorable characters and moments everywhere.

And about the song... I'm sorry, but that is not a great composition at all. I think it's fairly say that it's objectively terrible. It's essentially NOISE all over the place. There's a super corny melody being played on a super corny synth, with some super corny background instruments, a super corny bass that sounds like it came from a Genesis Sonic game, a super corny guitar that sounds like some stupid kid's cartoon opening; and so on. It's WAY too noisy, in your face, and cheesy, to the point where it becomes honestly downright disgusting to listen to. I'm not bashing it just because it's from Sun/Moon - I honestly tried to play the demo and accept for what it was, but that song literally made me want to go close my 3DS and go cry somewhere. It was that bad.

I never bash a game just because of its existence. I was very hyped for Sun/Moon when it was first announced, and the only reason I'm criticizing it so much now is because it has been shown, through countless trainers, that Game Freak has no fucking clue what it's doing.

...and about the whole "corny" overusage when I talked about the song... honestly, that is a reflection of everything Pokémon is doing right now. Ever since Ohmori took over as the director in OR/AS, the corny 8-year-old kid ideas have been taking over everywhere - from the pathetic corny story of ORAS, to the ABSURD focus on legendaries and their "bond" with you even when you couldn't give a shit about anything, to how you're always the "chosen one" for everything, to Alola Forms, to Ultra Beasts, to Z-moves, to Ash-Greninja. When I played the demo it didn't feel at all like a true Pokémon game - rather, it felt like the Pokémon Anime turned into a game... and that's far from being a compliment.

XY was the lowest selling game in the series. It sold 10 million less than BW.

Also, the ash-greninja thing was very popular. They wouldn't put it in if they hated it. People enjoyed the XYZ anime so they decided to bring it in. Not like he's as good as regular greninja. I'd rather see ash-greninja than an uber upgrade to greninja(similar to how charizard got 2 amazing megas).

@bolded about legendaries- many of the games focused on the legendary and bonds with Pokemon. I'm surprised how a fan of Pokemon can somehow not care about that at all. it's focused upon so much throughout the games(especially XY, which is how mega evolutions came)

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Thanks Pokemon GO!

Thats good and all. Just wish the new Pokeman designs weren't so ugly.

This just proves that people have awful taste.

you're crazy this game looks awesome and I'm not even a pokemon enthusiast :)

Same here, I haven't been interested on a Pokemon mainline game in like 15 years, but for what I have seen of Sun/Moon I'm thinking on getting it.

Opinions opinions lol. This gen designs have been awesome overall. One of the best imo

I don't think the designs are bad. In Generation V I couldn't find a team of 6 Pokémon I liked (and I hated all the starters). This Generation is alright, there are some very interesting and unique Pokémon designs here (the names suck though).

The Pokémon I like: Lycanroc (Midnight Form), Decidueye (seriously, what kind of name is this?), Alolan Raichu, Mimikyu, Salandit (curious about its evolution though), Tapu Koko, Passimian, Wishiwashi (and his awesome school form), Oricorio (Baile style), Minior (curious if it has an evolution though), Kommo-o, Lunala, Togedemaru (I wonder if it has an evolution), Alolan Sandslash & Ninetales, Alolan Exeggutor, Pikipek (need to see its final evolution though), Pyukumuku (need to see possible evolution though)

Terrible Pokémon designs: Gumshoos and Bewear.

Dang, the most pre-sold Nintendo game ever, and not just Pokemon? Sounds mighty impressive. Sounds like there's a good chance it'll def sell better than X/Y. It'll be fun seeing where the numbers end with this game.
