I'd rather make company with a "religious" person who's doing some good to his community than an "intelligent" person who's caught up in his pride of "knowledge." And there are situations like this, and we all know it. So in essence, this "religious" person might know more about the world from a humanitarian standpoint which is what ultimately matters in the long run. And make no mistake that I'll make company with most anyone. This just serves as an illustration that the world isn't as black and white as some "intelligent" people might have assumed.

The church in Ireland was reaching out and doing its part to let us know as a country that Gays are wrong and should have no rights, I mean... it is one thing to reach out to the community to do what you think is helping, but if you are doing it without any knowledge or grasp of the world then you can be doing more harm than good. Same with the spread of religon into 3rd world countries because the people their needed help.... but the people there did not need help from a group who condemned the use of Condoms which would have stopped the spreading of HIV or at least not encouraged it to spread more.

I'm not saying it's always the case of course, there are people who cite their religon as what makes them want to do good deeds and I mean genuine good deeds such as charity work at soup kitchens and such. I am nice to people though, not because a man up stairs tells me to be, but just because I want to be a nice person, it shouldn't take fear of eternal punishment after you die to make you want to be nice to others... should it?

Correct.  Christianity is ultimately about grace, not rules.  What you stated I agree with because it's a VERY common misconception because it's our nature to live by rules when the core of Christianity is the opposite.

Take two and call me in the morning!

I should add, in Ireland the Catholic church here has taken some major bad steps towards remaining relevant with the community, with our referendum on Gay marriage they really tried their hardest to tear people back into their fold with a lot of hate talk and it absolutely blew up in their faces here, even some elderly people I know in their 60-80s stopped going to Sunday Mass because of what it turned into, really that vote here slapped two things, dislike of Gay people and the Church got a massive hit because of their support of the other side.

Do you live by these rules?  Is this what you preach to others?

So.  I'm not talking about the Ireland Catholic church.  And even you said, "I'm not saying it's always the case of course..."

But you still have't answered my question: "Do you live by these rules?  Is this what you preach to others? "

I'm totally sure I won't be locking this in a few hours due to angry athiests and thiests fighting over "Im smrter than u cuz i dun belive in a sky wizard (they think repeating this enough will make them look clever for whatever reason) an u dooo!" and then the thiests will go "u cnt prov god aint real so ur dumb" and then the children cry and scream until we have to ban them and lock the inevitable response threads. It's all the same really. Happens every. single. time. It's depressing. It's stupid. And you could use that energy to post on a good thread that doesn't promote anal fissure anger that these threads seem to produce.

God is one thing, but a fucking SKY WIZARD!?!? Do you have any idea how ready I would be to praise a wizard that carried a staff and flew around on a dragon?

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Infallible flawless God and all humans on Earth are flawed. It does not matter what the humans do in their lives they will never ever be good enough because they are born with original sin and are all going to hell.

Then don't "preach" something you don't understand.

Peace, man.
