Forums - Movies & TV - Live-Action ‘The Lion King’ Incoming

Disney and Jon Favreau’s “The Jungle Book” turned a lot of heads earlier this year with its groundbreaking use of special effects and its worldwide box office gross of just over $960 million. Sequel buzz was inevitable with that kind of blockbuster success, but now we have confirmed that the studio and filmmaker have something even more ambitious up their sleeves: A live-action “The Lion King.” The Walt Disney Company confirmed this morning that one of their most beloved animated movies will officially be getting the live-action treatment, with Favreau attached to direct.

As much as I like Disney these days, I think they really need to cut it out with these live action versions of classics.

I agree. I would rather they make a new animated lion king sequel like finding dory than this. I dont want them to ruin it. And how the hell would a live-action work that would be 100% cgi I mean atleast mowgli was live action in the jungle book. And I am sure real lions won't be used so its just more realistic animation then live-action

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

I didn't even see the Jungle Book... but I am kinda interested in how it will look.

Only works for movies that had humans.

Beauty and the beast would be an amazing live action

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

How does that work? There's only animals in the Lion King, they better not add humans in there!

They are making a live action Beauty and the Beast though, hopefully it will be good =P

Awesome. I've really enjoyed the live-action variants of Disney movies.

The idea sounds horrible, however The Jungle Book remake was surprisingly good so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

I liked the new Jungle Book, so I predict this one will also make a kabillion dollars.

Nah I'd rather have a live action Finding Nemo
