Forums - Nintendo Discussion - DigiTimes: Foxconn trialing production of NX, ~10m units expected annually

Hopefully Nintendo has it figured out this time. Wii U will be tough to live down. I'll most likely get it if its a home console.

Wow without a reveal. What if they reveal it and people hate it and it receives Xbox One level reveal of backlash? Then Ninty is fucked and we need to wait another 5 years?

Hey, just saying. It's happened before and if they are that optimistic then the system must be amazing.

It expected that revile will be in near future, in next couple of weeks. Also they revile Wii U year and half before launch and that really didnt help them at all.

What is revile? Can not compute, error!

No aspect of Xbox One's backlash was fixed through hardware changes. If I'm not mistaken the only hardware changes we've seen coincide with backlash are blatantly prototype controllers

Still kind of in love with the OG PS3 controller :p

God, I wish they would release that, just as an optional controller. They'd have to redesign it a little for the PS4, but I would totally get one. I bought a 3rd party controller like it, and it didn't feel too bad, but of course it wasn't exactly like it or the same build quality.

At this point I believe Nintendo is more wary than ever of having their product copied. Which is good.

Nintendo makes the products they want, I've never seen them massively change a hardware product even after feedback (good or bad).

They didn't change the N64 due to cartridges/CD, they still released the Virtual Boy even after it got so-so reactions before release, the whole Wii U release, making the GameCube purple, etc. etc. etc.

They make very minor changes sometimes ... The GCN pad got the crappy small d-pad from the GBA added onto it, the Wii U got full analog sticks instead of the sliders, the N64 got the grey/colored button controller instead of the black/silver button Ultra 64 pad ... but I can't really think of too many more changes.

Nintendo gives zero fucks about product input once they've decided on a direction, lol.

I actually remember that! The Gamecube's B button was originally kidney shaped also but they changed it to a circle. I remember there was backlask in regards to the C-stick nub but Nintendo said it was there to stay. They obviously do not care about general concerns by the public and go their own way, for better or worse.

Just so everyone knows, Digitimes is not exactly a reputable source. They claim to have sources in Foxconn but make wild guesses from time to time just for clicks. They do this especially with Apple products, and a simple google of their exploits will show all of this.
That's not to say the article isn't true, but it just claims "sources" and Digitimes has a habit of being its own source so take that with all the lovely salt you've been chewing on the past few weeks.

They are terrible when it comes to revealing specs since almost all of their sources seem to come from the logistic side of the manufacturing process. They are usually spot on when things go into production runs. Especially at Foxconn since it seems information leaks like a shiv once it gets to that point.

"Expected" is the key word. They can expect certain things all they want, doesn't mean it'll do those numbers.

Sorrowfully given the thirsty sheep that plague the Nintendo section (Ctrl+F NX and it covers most of the first page threads here...) seems like they really got their work cut out for them.

How many people on this site are genuinely waiting until we get official word instead of relying on users with shady "credibility" and who have made seemingly informative threads, but still bear crow-themed avatars for being flat wrong?

Like believe a man with a kind demeanor... concealing a knife behind their back.

If the NX is a replacement for the Wii U and 3DS isn't that kinda low? Would mean another decline from their total console sales this gen?

Not really, remember the Wii U has only sold a little over 13 million and even with adding the 3DS units on top of that you only get 72.5 million which is about 18 million. But you have to remember they don't want to over produce, they don't want to under produce but there is more danger in over production. So the production can be ramp up or slowed down as needed but it takes time. Over producing causes you warehouses to fill up and then they would have to stop production. That happened with the Gamecube near the end of its life it before it was getting a little traction in sales so Nintendo got bullish and had way too many made and they had to stop production for several months until the excess could get sold off. But the news that they stoped production essensially was the last nail in coffin for the console and it killed any momentum they had before. And its not like they will stay at that production level that is just the initial flow.
