They didn't change the N64 due to cartridges/CD, they still released the Virtual Boy even after it got so-so reactions before release, the whole Wii U release, making the GameCube purple, etc. etc. etc. They make very minor changes sometimes ... The GCN pad got the crappy small d-pad from the GBA added onto it, the Wii U got full analog sticks instead of the sliders, the N64 got the grey/colored button controller instead of the black/silver button Ultra 64 pad ... but I can't really think of too many more changes. Nintendo gives zero fucks about product input once they've decided on a direction, lol. |
I actually remember that! The Gamecube's B button was originally kidney shaped also but they changed it to a circle. I remember there was backlask in regards to the C-stick nub but Nintendo said it was there to stay. They obviously do not care about general concerns by the public and go their own way, for better or worse.
