Sadley the market deems smartphones as god like devices which they are all willing to go dish out $800+ every two years for, but they are disgusted by the idea of a $500 console or a $400 handheld.

Unfortunatly people see these devices as the "proper" place for web browsing, socializing, gaming, etc., and have shoved consoles aside as simple toys.

Personally, I see the me too slab phones as the most useless devices in the history of electronics. I have never spent actual money on one outside of the Xperia Play, because I absolutly hate them. The last two I have used rewards points to buy, and the one before that was a gift, because the Vita with Skype was "Not a real Phone".

Somehow Sony and Microsoft have to conveince more than just me, that shopping, paying bills, watching TV, making videos, editing pictures, buying stocks, socilizing, and playing games are all acceptable activities on consoles. Then we may actually be able to get home computers and mobile companion devices, that are higher price, and better value. But, until that becomes the norm, we will have underpowered consoles, a dieing handheld market, a broken PC market, and an over priced and extreamly limited function mobile market.

I dunno, I can't complain at the moment.

I was using a Windows Phone for the past 3 years and I love my 7 Plus so far. You don't know true hell until you see the Windows App Store. I was using my Lumias strictly for calling, music and really poor web browsing. In fact my Lumia 930 is still yet to receive the Windows Phone 10 update in Australia. I guess MS have given up on their phones, so I decided to give up too.

I'm guessing for everyone that's been using an iPhone for the past 3 years that this phone isn't anything special?

2 Nexus 6P phones for the same price and you'd have 4x the phone between the two.

People still think iPhones are fashionable and nothing more.  People still buy them for no other purpose than to display  in public as if it means something.  Just like people who still think their BMWs are the shit when a CTS-V destroys it in every category.

You average lower class debt drowning keep up with the Jones types still think yapping on their phones and driving makes them high society as if it's still 1980 or something.  Hilarious.

According to early reviews the Sony Xperia XZ is inferior to other 2016 flagship smartphones.

The Xperia XZ costs 700 € (and as usual only few people will buy Sony's top model), the superior iPhone 7 starts at 760 €.

That's just the going rate for smartphones in that category. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, etc.

Ranting about it is like complaining about the price of an Audi A8 when you could buy a Fiat 500 for a fraction of the price. Or complaining about the price of a Fiat 500 when you could buy a Vespa for a fraction of that.

Furthermore, a console and a smartphone don't even cover the same functions unless you primarily bought a high end model to play games on it, which would show pretty misplaced priorities given that the phone is generally used a communication and productivity device and a console is almost exclusively designed for entertainment.

Lastly, sales reflect the market for each respective device. Apple sold over 231 million iPhones in 2015 alone. Let that sink in. The wildly successful PS4 sold 43.4 million units since 2013 by comparison.

Or maybe it's like a CTS-V vs an A8.  Better in everything, costs less, easier to maintain. Badge isn't as snobby, that's important to some people. Paying more for less like it's something to brag about.

Yes we are totally in the same page. Proprietary shit that is exorbitantly expensive isn't a good thing (even Memory Stick for Vita is well hated, even though it's quite cheap compared to this joke on earphones).

I paid around 200-250 USD in brazil for my Sony M4 while iPhone 6 was around 1k USD because I can't justify paying more than 400 USD on any phone because it is something that we change every 2 years or less, battery always suck and die off, OS doesn't update anymore, scratches, etc. So since M4 would do everything I needed I didn't have to look much further in expending more.

I'm more curious on how did you put PS4 Pro on your pocket with all cables on it. How big are your paints?

I also can't understand this shit... paying 800 USD every year for a phone (because a lot of people do upgrade every 6mo to 1y) while complaining about the price of a console at 400 that you change every 5y (for me the price of SW is a much bigger hassle) and only wanting to buy when it reaches 200.

Yep, the guy makes the comparison be like why pay 500k for ferrari if a golf can get you there for 20k. When in reality is why pay a lot more for basically the same thing.

The wireless headphones are an additional cost that drives the high price of the iPhone 7 up higher.
The wireless headphones can easily get lost at the gym, at the office, around the house, etc.
The wireless headphones being small can easily be swallowed by a small child or a cat or dog.
