Why the Scorpio will sell for no more than $399 (if its 6tflops).

it will be $499 and will be fine.
the xbox one including kinect sold fine for $499 5.1million units in the first 5 months

and the xbox one including kinect had very bad word of month and press.
so the most powerful console ever will do fine at that pricepoint.

There's a lot more that goes into the pricing of a console than it's "flops" so it could be $399 but I think it's more likely to be higher.

Well the PS4 Pro is selling for $399, so what makes the Scorpio much more expensive?

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Yes, it's gauarnteed the Scorpion won't cost more than $399. If Sony is able to sell a 4.2 TFLOP machine in 2016 for $399 and make a profit, surely Microsoft will easily be able to sell a 6 TFLOP machine for the same price a whole year later even though they might have to take a small loss on each unit sold.

Also, since Sony most likely will have dropped the PS4 Pro to $349 by next holiday season, pricing the Scorpion at anyfing higher than $399 would be suicide.

@teeqoz, no offense. But how is 500gb flops , which is the difference between the current ps4 and xbox one. The same relative as 1.8 terraflops which will be the difference between ps4 pro and xbox Scorpio?
That's slightly over 3 times the amount , not the same in my book

Assumeing their useing the same technology to manufacture the chips with.... the size of the chip? the higher power requirement = bigger cooler, power unit?

Which leads to needing a bigger box, which also drives up price.

Unless Microsoft have something better than 16nm fab tech, that the PS4 is useing, I dont see why them useing a bigger chip doesnt mean price will be higher.

"1 year = cheaper" doesnt work, unless you have fab advances that make it so.
