I liked Into Darkness in fact its my favorite of the 3, not being a big star trek fan I dont understand the hate for it

Most of the hate for the new films is because they do not fit the Gene Rodenberry Star Trek feel at all.

They turned Star Trek into a space action series more akin to Star Wars than the original Star Trek Formula.

Don't care for star trek but the first is still the best film. Darkness was crap. New one feeler like a b list space movoe like enders game or something.

This is exactly how I felt as well.

Beyond was enjoyable, but in my eyes was easily rated third.

Yup. I am not a fan of the JJ films.

I been a fan of the franchise since 1989.  Only thing Star Trek about these new ones is the names and set pieces...no scratch that not the sets since they made the ships super massive and the Engineering room a boiler room. In real Star Trek everything had a purpose and the interiors were made to match the models shown on film.

Despite ending its run domestically a few weeks back, it still eeks towards its budget worldwide. Less than 1 more million and it will hit 185 million internationally.

Also Paramounts biggest picture this year, there will be more.

This will for sure break even at the very least when it comes to digital sales, dvd, blu ray and when it makes its way onto netflix joining the rest of the Star Trek Franchise. Amazing btw if you've not seen it, but pretty much every boxset of Trek is on netflix now, currently watching through the animated series, it has aged rather well if anyone is after some Trek action before Discovery comes to the screens next year.

But yeah, I seen Beyond in the Cinema, wasn't the best Trek I've ever seen but at the same time it was most certainly not the worst, at least it didn't stomp all over existing movies in the same way that Into Darkness did and it even made use of some of the pre timeline split stuff from Star Trek Enterprise which was used very nicely with the Ship they found on the planet and the old Starfleet military group which was disarmed when the federation was put into power. Could sense Peggs writing in parts of it which was only a good thing for myself since I'm a fan of the guys work.

I liked Beyond best out of the three new ones, felt the most 'Trekkie' out of them. I liked the nods to other series and films and it actually acknowledged Enterprise. It's too bad it performed worse (though with international it's not so bad).

The first reboot is cool as a stand-alone film, but despite it's name it's not much of a Star Trek film and I always hate it when writers do the "Oh it's an alternate reality"-thing, it's just a cop-out. Older material exists, deal with it. Into Darkness was, not that exciting except Cumberbatch's performance. I'd rather watch the real Wrath of Khan.

I have a bunch of the books that inspired the animated series or inspired by. Great books, Alan Dean foster I believe. I obviously have the animated series on DVD box set too.^

Awesome, Trek sadly was never popular enough here for the animated series to be available in stores on boxset format and I'll be honest I only knew a small bit about it before Netflix secured the season, couldn't be more happy with my netflix sub for all the content they bring in and create.

I was a casual Star Trek fan when I was a kid. Watching all three new movies, I thought they were all fun to watch. I don't see where the problem is.
