Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Are you still impressed by Zelda Breath of the Wild?

Yes, more so now than before E3, in fact.

I really can't think of many games that exhibit as much thought and nuance in how you interact with the game world as Breath of the Wild seems to. If the rest of the game lives up to what's been shown so far, it'll be on another level compared to any other open world game I have played.

I was never impressed to begin with, but still I hope it turns out great. Nintendo has been dissapointing me for the last 2 years. I hope that ends now.

Play the new rhythm heaven game. that'll please you

And here I was beginning to think I was the only one seeing that potential.  All these people saying "so many other games have done it" are blind if they can't see the potential in what Nintendo is trying to do.  IF they deliver (it is Nintendo. I am sure they will), this game will revolutionize the concept of open world fantasy games as we know it.  Show me one open world game where you can accidently cause a wildfire and get shafted by nature itself just because you forgot to check which way the wind was blowing before you decided to use your fire rod.  What other game has a higher chance of getting struck by lightning when you where metal armor in a thunderstorm?

What we have seen is nothing compared to what the final game will be, and already we see innovations never seen before in open world gaming.  But people hear "open world" and immediately try to downplay it because downplaying is the cool thing to do these days.

Just my two rupees....

The visuals are dumbed down from the first trailer. Not from E3 though!

Never really been "impressed".

Just always excited.

Now that I think about it, BOTW most likely will get downgraded. Especially the Wii U version.

Are you sure that you thought about it?

I am pretty sure if he actually thought about the things that he posts, he wouldn't be posting half the things he generally posts...

Nice swipe there lol

I've already seen all I needed of the game so I'm trying to keep myself in the dark from here on out. While the story probably wont be anything of significance, the game has heavy emphasis on exploration and discovery which are best experienced first hand.

So to answer the question in the title, yes I'm very much still impressed by what I saw at E3!

After watching this video it looks like they dumbed down the visuals and are just reusing old audio from Wind waker. Besides open world which is nothing that new for zelda, what else stands out to you? Skyward Sword may not have been open world, but most of the other games are more or less.

Visuals are not as wonderful as they were a year ago.

The last 3D Zelda that really felt Open World was Ocarina of Time. So it's quite new (and welcome) for modern Zelda indeed.

And the visuals never were wonderful LOL. Open world + promising gameplay were and still are.

Thanks to that trailer in the OP, I'm more imprerssed than before because I could see a glimpse of how varied the combat can be. Nintendo, kings of variety, interactivity with the environment and puzzles that you can solve in any way you want. The art style is still gorgeous. Haters stay pressed.
