I think I have an answer to that symbol. It's for networking. It would also explain if that is indeed a port next to it.

So you are ok with passing the cost of the converter to the gamer.....isnt that anti gamer practice and destroys for the gamers thing that Sony is bragging about all the time?

During the PS1 and PS2 era, Sony's systems requires an adaptor for playing 3+ players.  Most of their competitors (the N64, Dreamcast, Gamecube, and Xbox come to mind) allowed up to 4 players to play without an adaptor.  It was an era where split-screen gaming was very popular.  Was that unreasonable on Sony's part then?  I don't think it was.  As much as 4 controller ports on a console was a really nice thing in that era, it did add to the cost.  So does this, and Sony has probably looked into it and concluded (rightly or wrongly) that not enough people are using it.

The Xbox One S does still include the feature, so the mini PS4 missing it is unfortunate, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a consumer to purchase an adaptor for a feature that (I'm speculating) isn't commonly used.

Obviously Sony leaked it.

We'll they are claiming the console was stolen and they are striking every unboxing video on YouTube down, so I doubt that.

If anything, this confirms more than it's leaked because there is also interest why it's taken down, accelerating the forum discussions even a bit more.

Like a system link/LAN between multplie PS4 Slims?? That hasn't been a feature since the OG Xbox hehe. Very well could be though.

PS3 OG had it and Xbox One and Xbox One S had it. If it is a LAN port I'm not sure why they've added it when the original PS4 doesn't have it.

Excuse my ignorance on the subject but could it be added for gaming competitions. I know Sony have been trying to get into that scene more.

Seems like that guy doesn't know much about economy... all costs are passed to the gamer, companies need to profit to be viable. So the customer can either pay it in addition (having the baseline cheaper) or mandatory, so if everybody must pay the cost even without using versus only the very few that want it paying, I would say the first option is a lot more anti-costumer than the second.

I thought the LAN port on PS3/PS3 slim was essentially an ethernet port which could be used for pairing consoles physically and locally? The PS3 did not have both an ethernet port and a LAN port...
