Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Says It’s Looking To Appeal To Both Causal And Core Gamers With NX

" In an interview with Nikkei Trendy, Takahashi says that the company has designed the NX to be an appealing product for both casual and core gamers and also addressed the subject of software droughts. Here’s what he had to say:

"I can’t talk about this in detail yet, but we are aiming so that neither people who like games nor moms dislike it. I think that I want to release a game device that both customers who have much experience in gaming and customers who haven’t played much can enjoy greatly."

" We are paying attention to that. Having said that, it isn’t about drastically increasing the amount of development staff. To be specific, software development teams and teams that create the development environment are thinking about the NX lineup together. Teams creating the development environment respond to that by considering ‘if we prepare an environment like this, then development will go smoothly’, and they actually discuss with development teams and hear their opinions and prioritize those things. We have built a stronger cooperative relationship compared to what is was before and are making efforts so that software can be developed smoothly."

Nintendo tried doing that with the WiiU and it didn't turn all that well. We'll see soon enough if that the NX will do better in that regard.

Nintendo says they want to appeal to everybody

Idiots hear that Nintendo only want to appeal to casual gamers

So basically they're trying to sound like they're saying something while actually saying nothing.

Yeah, BotW kind of cemented that in my mind already. I hope Nintendo's loosening their lips about NX.

Well, it should be quite simple to achieve it, just offer plenty of good games for casuals and plenty of good games for core gamers and possibly games that both kind of gamers love too.

It's obvious that Nintendo with again goes for mass market.

They said basically the same thing with the Wii U, and that didn't turn out well. Not sure if I can believe that this time.

That's worrying.

The casual/hardcore divide is bullshit. Nintendo shouldn't use inaccurate rethoric like that.

Back when Nintendo made the Wii and were successful, they said that they wanted to appeal to everyone. Everyone!

I LOVE ICELAND!

Animal Crossing launch title confirmed.

Considering that most of Nintendo's huge selling titles are casual friendly, this comes as no surprise and is the best way to go.

Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Super Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Tomodachi, Splatoon are all 5+ million sellers and many of those are 10+ million and are all casual friendly while still appealing to core gamers for the most part.

These are the types of games that Nintendo thrives at making and should be their primary focus.
