Funny that I just saw this thread seeing as last night I spent $5.95 AUD on a weapon pack for Last of Us Remastered multiplayer. I kept getting rekt by a Tactical Shotgun so I went and bought one myself to rek others with.

I'm a recovering player of competitive F2P mobile gaming. I spent at least $500 on Fantasica in my 2 years of playing. That sounds terrible and it is, but I had friends who spent that much every month. The whale game was strong.

I find it extremely easy to not get tempted. Though I do have rocksolid discipline. If I decide not to do something, anything, I just won't do it. Ever. So I'm sorry I can't relate, I never microtransacted.

Unless you count a map-pack I bought for a GPS app, but that wasn't an impulse buy. We'd still have been aimlessly driving around Florida if it wasn't for that.

Do any of your friends have expensive hobbies? You're the same age as much, surely you know people that waste far more money on frivilous things.

Remember when I was playing Mass Effect 3 multiplayer and I was kinda antsy trying to unlock the rare and ultra rare weapons from the game, and the packs wouldn't unlock me anything useful. So without any credits, I saw that I had $2-3 dollars on my PS Store wallet, so I spent some real life money on some chests, which didn't give me anything useful. Never again.

You know if anything seeing Deluxe editions and Complete editions and the likes completely has put me off buying some games, just like... See a game on psn on sale for 9.99! cool that's a nice price I'll buy it.... wait... next to it is the complete edition for 12.99 how is the 9.99 version incomplete? should I buy the 12.99 version instead... okay... wait... there is a fucking deluxe super deee dooper edition for 19.99, at that point I'm just so completely out of interest, those games prolly come laced with dlc and microtransactions too if they are trying to nickle and dime the fuck out of players on the way in, that is a club I don't wanna visit.

Easy enough here, Just cause is an open world game... so there is an XL version of it which... I'm guessing has more content because it's bigger?

But.... Mortal Kombat X is Mortal Kombat 10... the X means 10, Mortal Kombat XL sort of makes sense but... it's a fighting game? is it a larger story? roster? costumes? is it even the same game as MKX?

Ahhh you want the deluxe edition... very nice... but... it's not the ultimate deluxe edition though! still gives you that feeling you aren't buying the full game for your money.

Now you get to the realms of which version is best isn't clear at all with the naming

So... should you buy the game of the year edition? then need to get the deluxe edition upgrade on top of that? or... is the deluxe edition included in the GOTY edition, if so.. what is deluxe about the deluxe version? again... base game looks like a terrible option to buy because you clearly miss out on a ton of content.

And lastly... what the fuck is this 2 different games or just terrible version names with the crew

So the Crew, base game is 12.49.... and Wild ride is also 12.49 so you would think... they are different titles? but then the other two titles here.. what is going on there? How is The Crew Wild Run different from The Crew Wild Run Edition, they're priced differently so there must be more content to it? but... what...

See it's at that point where they've effectively cheapened the experience that the core game seems to be offering which makes me think... if it isn't a complete edition... am I buying a demo basically where I'll need to upgrade it later for more money, which just makes me more often than not, opt out of buying altogether.

Well, if Mortal Kombat X is Mortal Kombat 10 then Mortal Kombat XL is Mortal Kombat 40, if I remember roman numbers correctly.

But do you mean The Crew Wild Run... or The Crew Wild Run Edition? Like look at the names, there is 2 titles there called Wild Run just one has Edition on the end.

And yeah that is what I meant too with Dragon Age inquisition, the base game which is just 9.99 could be an awesome purchase, but put next to things like "complete" editions it just will make gamers like myself hesitant to invest in the cheap but good option and stay away altogether.
