Forums - Gaming Discussion - Eurogamer: Nintendo NX is a portable console with detachable controllers (It also connects to your TV, and runs cartridges)

I guess I can't say I'm too surprised though. There's no way Nintendo could compete with Sony and MS..

Portable device that hooks up to TV like these guys?

I am down if that's true.  Been looking for a new handheld device as well and Nintendo never disappoints in that department.

Tagging.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

Hmmm. I think many people will be disappointed by the specs. People didn't want Nvidia Tegra but oh well. This could be a monster portable device with specs just below Xbox One which would be great. Question is how will it look on a TV and do people still care about dedicated handheld game devices anymore? We'll see.

Eh. The issue here is that the architecture is different and it will definitely not be as powerful as even an Xbox One. I don't see how ports would be easily done. I like the idea, but I really want a powerful Nintendo console that 3rd parties will willingly and easily port over to. Note: I only care about Nintendo games on Nintendo consoles, but I want this thing to be successful and appeal to everyone.

It won't be like that. Whatever the NX ends up being will be the first time it has ever been done. Nintendo doesn't take ideas from the other hardware makers.

This sounds very plausable.

It also goes with other rumors that were concerned about the price.

It's probably gonna be pricy, and that is not a good thing. This could work, but would have to be priced on the range of a handheld console. If its not, handheld customers won't get it and thats where the biggest chunk of Nintendo's market is.

I still think it will fail despite all. Because i don't see Nintendo beeing agressive with its pricing. But... if it does get positioned as a handheld console, that is pretty much a monopoly for them. The Vita hardly twitches with life (though it lingers) and the other home consoles wouldn't necessarely be competitiors.

This is exactly the thing I was expecting NX to be.

Hopefully it being a cartdrige based portable console is its only gimmick, please don't touch the controller.

I'm now filled with determination.

Sarcastic and passive-aggressive posts like this don't add much to the conversation. They just stir up trouble.

@OP: all I want is a moderately powered and modestly priced system that plays the best Nintendo and its partners have to offer. If it doubles as a portable and a home console all the better.
