He was filming Squad during ID4 2's filming. There was no way around it.

These budgets are never really accurate anyway.

Movie studios always get large tax and state rebates and also it's in the movie studios interests to inflate the budget total as high as possible so the can keep as much of the profit away from back-end deals (ie: say a big actor or director gets a cut of the profit of a movie ... well in that case it's bad for the studio if the reported profit is sky high because they have to pay the actor/director more in that case).

Really sucks that David Arnold won't be back for the new movie, he scored the soundtrack for the first ID4 and IMO it really was central to the movie. I think he'll be missed as much as Will Smith honestly.

It'll do close to that domestically, and then there's the international box office. If Will Smith was in the movie the budget would've been at least $250 million.

Also, I have to say that ID4 has not aged well at all. I thought it was amazing when it first came out, plus it being one of the most hyped up movies and biggest blockbusters of all time just added to the appeal of the movie, but I had not seen it for close to 10 years or so and I watched it last summer when it was on TV, and I was like wow... once you take the nostalgia goggles off, it ain't a pretty sight.
