Of course there have been changes. But it's undoutbedly a 3D Zelda game. I'd be interested in seeing what game Horizon looks so much that even two 3D Zeldas are farther apart...

So your logic is it's like the other games because it's part of the franchise? Games are made apart by what they do in execution not what they look like.

No...It's like the other games because I'm sitting here watch them play it and it looks like a 3D Zelda game. It's certainly evolved, and it's adopted things from modern open world rpgs, but the way it looks and the way it appears to play are Zelda through and through.

Which isn't a dig at Zelda in any way, but saying Horizon looks standard when comparing it to a Zelda game is silly.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

1) more impressive? -- Horizon, without doubt.

2) more unique? -- I'll give this to Zelda. At this point in the industry, Zelda-type games are less common.

3) More intriguing? -- Horizon, without a doubt. I want to explore that world and understand it.

4) more fun? -- Horizon combat obliterates anything Zelda has shown. Watching both trailers, I was almost itching to get my hands on Horizon and fight some of those monsters. It looks like you have an absolute ton of options, including hacking technobeasts. That's awesome. Horizon combat looks incredibly fun. The Zelda combat in the trailer (that's all I've seen) is nowhere near as interesting or exciting. And game-play is king, right?

I feel like your opinion is one of the ones I respect most due to it not being charged with petty bias.

edit: (petty in this case meaning trivial details blown up to huge proportions to the point of being almost false)

I will say 1-3 for Horizon and 4 for Zelda. I am not the biggest Zelda fan but the game looks really good. Not mind blowing just like a really good Zelda game or an upgraded WW. Zelda is a proven franchise but Nintendo has been coming up short with the Wii U so I hope Zelda is still Zelda!

I would have given 3 to Zelda as well but the trailer didn't really show enough to sway it that way IMO. I am hoping both will be good games but the pressure is more on Zelda because the Wii U desperately needs it right now. Not say there is none on Horizon but this could be the last great game the Wii U gets so it holds a lot of weight!

Excited for both games either way!

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

Graphics? Horizon

Everything else? Zelda without a single doubt. Specially after watching the threehouse gameplay.

Zelda looks done to death by other games IMO. Nothing to write to your mama about unless you're a super fan. Overhype probably because of lack of competition in their conference. IMO, Horizon has much more mobility, more strategy, and a technically looking better game. I guess we'll see.

Come on man. I've no problem that you like Horizon more. In fact, I celebrate it. I like the differing points of view and priorities on this site. I like debating the finer points of gaming and being challenged by my peers.

But PLEASE do not delegitimize the opinions of others by citing fanboyism or lack of competition. People genuinely love the look of Zelda, just as others genuinely love the look of Horizon.

Which one looks:

4) more fun?

On looks alone:

1) LoZ though I want to point out that Horizon is at a disadvantage since this E3 was not Horizon's premier.

2) Horizon: robotic wildlife.

3) LoZ since I'm seeing a Temple of Time in ruins and a Link waking up from some sort of tub.

4) I see more variance in LoZ. I saw Horizon's character had an inventory of sorts but the trailer doesn't dabble with much of that inventory if memory serves.

Except no Zelda game utilizes and combines sandbox and survival elements, I've watched Horizons gameplay walkthroughs as well so I can see where he was coming from as the game looks technically good but the gameplay didn't match the technical achievements. The new Zelda only vaguely resembles the previous games.

Unfortunately, that's how it's gonna end. It's a battle between an established IP vs a new IP. There's going to be a lot of bias especially from the fans of an established IP.

I'm jusy saying how it is.

Horizon has more competition in a Sony conference than a Zelda game in a Nintendo one as well. It's just harder to stand out like a star in a constellation and it managed to do it despite being previewed previously in too many conferences.

I don't think this is even a comparison, Horizon wins easily.

Add me if you want but let me know youre from this website

1) I'd give Zelda being more impressive. Yes, Horizon is graphically impressive, but to dismiss Zelda's art style, which has been discussed during the Treehouse, is like dismissing a different kind of art. Zelda is focusing on an art style that really makes the world stand out. Sure, the graphics aren't 4K or realistic, but does it have to be? Plus, I'm seeing this new world of Zelda and I can't wait to explore this world.

2) Uniqueness is a tough one because I don't know what kind of uniqueness are we looking for. Zelda looks unique because it is really showcasing an evolution of the original game from 30 years ago and providing a new experience in exploration. Horizon looks unique in terms of combat.

3) Intriguing will probably be a tie. I know the Zelda franchise more and the Treehouse has showcased some sense of mystery into this game. Plus, this whole "breaking conventions" for Zelda gets me interested in what more are they going to do to let this game stand out. At the same time, with Horizon, I'm kinda intrigued but I'll wait to see more. I think I'm more intrigued about whether or not Horizon can deliver, mostly because I know Nintendo EAD has rarely disappointed when releasing its biggest games and that Horizon is a new IP by Guerrilla Games.

4) Fun, depends on what you define fun in this particular medium. For me, I think I'll go with Zelda because it still has the Zelda charm in which you can still smile and feel like you're on an adventure. As for Horizon, I hope it can provide it's own sense of fun.

In the end, we are entitled to our own opinions. Just don't downplay one or the other games. They both look great in their own right.
