Forums - Gaming Discussion - Mighty No. 9 will be criticized for its short content, I guarantee it

To be fair, him not doing anything creative or directive and the game itself being bad are two different things. Don't blame him because he's the only name you know.

... well, besides the graphics, of course.

I can smell it from here that Mighty No. 9 will be bashed by critics because they don't understand the genre. They will compare it to other games that are not comparable and then say that it's lacking, exactly like they did with Star Fox Zero.

I think the problem will be that it's short but decidedly un-arcadey. Mega Man 9 and 10 succeeded critically (mostly) because they were MM but priced accordingly. MN9 is half MM half X, but with seemingly short to average content and a several-year-long development cycle.

Moreover, questions have to be asked (not by reviewers) where the Kickstarter money went if the game is short, uninspired, and ugly graphically in an unreleased series that already has a TV show. I played MN9 a year ago and it was done. Literally just needed a tad bit of polish but the game was finished. Where in the world does it take a full year to fix online leaderboards? After being one of the most hyped KS games to date the game damn well deserves to be criticized if it ends up three hours long. Not that it's gonna be 3 hours necessarily, that's just an example number.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Well, I'm pretty sure Mighty no.9 doesn't look like a 4+ million dollar game.

I will wait for the reception before purchasing it on Steam, but honestly, I'm expecting it to be really bad.

Considering Mega Man 9 was $10 and this game is $30, I think they'll do well within their right to be a little annoyed if this game has the same amount of content. It has nothing to do with the "type of game this is." It's basic value proposition.

It will be compared to Mega Man for sure, because it's supposed to be :p

Oops. Double.

Can someone explain to me all the hate over this game? I haven't been following it, but basically just get the sense that people are upset about delays. Anything else I'm missing? Did they over promise, remove features?

I think it will be criticsed for being a bad game. Inafune committed daylight robbery with this one and I backed it like an idiot.

Won't happen.

It's an indie game. Critics aren't allowed to criticise indie games.

Lol, what made you come to that conclusion about indie games?

I don't think length will be the issue. It'll be the presentation and expectations being too high, or them taking way to dang long with this game. If it releases maybe a year after the kickstarter, it would have likely been a hoot. Now, I think the hype is pretty much dead, and inafune's questionable actions throughout this game's development probably don't sit well with people. I think it could be something that just took too long and people kind of... forgot about it.

What do you think though, kid?
