Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn discussion thread: stats, characters etc.

After a nice discussion in the Tales of Symphonia thread I thought it was time to have a Fire Emblem discussion thread. Since these discussions often end up in long conversations about which swordsman is better, or who to level and who not I thought it was better to have a seperate thread for that.

To start of: I love the game to death. I'm currently at the start of part 4.

My best character is definitely Haar. I can just put him in the middle of an enemy army and he will kill 'em all.

Mage: Soren without question, though his stat gaining is pretty bad.
Swordsman: Mia (I know Zihark is better, but I teamed her with Gathrie, and she grown awfully strong).
Sniper: Rolf (Just love him)
Warrior: Tough one between Nolan and Boyd, but Nolan has better defence.
Laguz: Actually none. I loved them in PoR, but they kepp transformed shorted, which makes them near useless. Volug is quite ok.
Priest: Rhys

Favorite support:

Nephenee & Brom (fun while it lasts, cause they didn't make the team at the latest chapters of part 3)
Ike & Soren
Mia & Gathrie
Edward & Nolan
Boyd & Rolf

Question: Does anyone use the Master Crowns to class change? i don't really see the benefit over battle levelling, because eventually the character can't max. And do you use the Spectre Card on anyone?

Best character for me was probably Titania or Ike, both were near invincible.

Mage: Sorren
Swordsmen: Mia (Although, I like to use Edward too, and usually use both)
Sniper: Shinon (don't have to train him like you do Rolf)
Priest: Mist
Pegasus Knight: Marcia (get to use her the most)
General: Gatrie
Laguz: Don't use them, since I don't like manage their transformation gauges.

I typically support the following
Ike & Sorren
Shinon & Gatrie
Titania & Oscar

Other than that, I really just randomly pick other people who I think I'll be keeping close together.

As for your question. Yes, I use Master Crown/Seals whenever I have a unit at level 20. It saves you a few experience points, and I don't need the cash (If you can sell them, I can never remember)

I don't use Spectre Cards either, but that is because I forget about them. In fact, I pretty much don't use any of the power up items either, because I don't want to use them until I absolutely have to, which I typically don't.

My Best Character was Haar. Or Skrimer. He was on Level 40. Invincible to all melee attacks. Of course, there is Chuck Norris...

There's no point to using the Master Crowns.  I got everyone I wanted leveled up normally.

And I never touched any of the cards.

Did you actually forge any weapons beyond the first few chapters it became available?

Did your Mist cap pretty much everything and turn into a one-woman army like mine did?

I didn't have enough money to forge weapons. In PoR I used to forge insane swords for Ike, but the chapter where you're on the border of Gallia and Crimea I really had to trade weapons from members that weren't in the party to have everyone equiped.

Now I have enough money, so I probably will forge Ike a cool sword.

My Mist isn't really levelled. I hardly used her. Sounds like I should have. I hate to look after weak units, so I end up not using them (same with Fiona, Astrid, Meg).

I didn't bother with getting the Soren/Ike support since Soren was already more than strong enough to do without the Earth Affinity support so I went with the Ike/Mist support.

The result was a super criticaling/dodging Mist with a 1~2 range weapon and the ability to heal Ike should he ever need it.  She also carried Daunt with her most of the game knocking everything's accuracy/critical ratio down around her and Ike.  It was quite hard going at first since Mist isn't exactly the toughest of the tough but by the end of it, she and Ike were ripping through enemies left and right.  My only disappointment was Mist's low Strength cap.  She would have been amazing if not for that...

I had Haar, Brom, and Gatrie up front like giant tanks kicking ass. Then had Ike (w/ +2 movement), Titania, and Shinon roaming around picking off stragglers. And Soren/Micaiah hung back to blast anyone else who came close 'cause they died in one hit. Worked awesome.

You actually used Brom and Gatrie...?  I pretty much skipped them entirely.

Still that's the fun of Fire Emblem; you make the team that works best for you.

Yeah, Gatrie is amazing. I ditched Brom after chapter 3-6 or something.

There are endless possibilities in making your party. I even fought with less people than I was allowed to once, because I had no other option than Astrid.
That was in the Felrirae Castle. It earned me 10.000 BEXP (that I didn't use). Just send everyone in without attacking (the catapults where hell though). 50 BEXP per surviving enemy.

In my first playthrough, Brom just kept getting bad levels and Gatrie couldn't OHKO anything whereas everyone else seemingly could.  Brom is turning out quite a bit better in my 2nd playthrough but I'm still not impressed with Gatrie.

I never get a lot of BEXP from that map.  I always kill everything and everyone... like I do with most maps.   ^_^

Still, there are two maps that I haven't killed everyone in.  One of them was the large army map with the cliffs where the map ended far far too soon.  Can't recall what the other one was off-hand.
