What if NX is also a android TV of Nintendo's all the released VC games plus all other platforms (Sega, Neo Geo, etc)?
It would be a Virtual Console console + Android TV + connection to other NX devices.

Surely, there wouldn't be lag for those old games.

True, older Nintendo games would stream fine even with most people's internet connection.

THIS IS JUST MY SPECULATION: Maybe the NX will be a streaming box but will also have a hard drive. This way some of the game would be downloaded to use locally while the rest of the game streams from a server. Nintendo spent over half a billion dollars last year in R&D. Maybe they came up with a new way to stream games. END OF WILD CRAZY SPECULATION.

It is speculation, indeed! :D

Even if it hadn't been confirmed to be HW, we live in a world where that just isn't feasible. And for two main reasons at that:

The required broadband connection to make people forget it's a stream and not a disk, isn't available to the mass market.
Being a stream device would automatically cast aside all those users who want something physical or need it (to trade in for other games/money).

A console like this would just be the end of the Nintendo's home console - and Sony and MS's as well.

It's not that a stream NX SKU couldn't also exist, just not the only option.

dont forget that NX as a streaming device completely makes My Nintendo irrelevant since its based on the idea of getting discounts on games by purchasing games.

Nintendo said the NX will coexist with the Wii U and 3DS and not replace them, so My Nintendo works for those.

Don't shoot the messenger here. I posted these videos knowing how controversial this idea of a streaming Nintendo system is. I don't know what Nintendo's next system will be and no one else outside of Nintendo knows either. We all have to wait for the reveal.

If NX is a streaming box, then Nintendo can shove it up their ***.

Just sayin'. I know it isn't, but still.

Nintendo also said My Nintendo is a key part of their business going forward and that they are pushing digital sales as another strong revenue stream. Both these things contradict your theory because these are both meant to be long-term revenue streams so having them exclusively for 3DS/Wii U which are declining/dying platforms makes no sense for their long-term goals.

Wii U is expected to ship 800,000 this fiscal year and be discontinued by the following fiscal year while 3DS is expected to ship 5,000,000 this fiscal year, which is down from about 13,000,000 in the 2011/2012/2013 fiscal years. Both of these platforms are on the way out and are not part of their long-term goals meaning that My Nintendo & digital sales in general are key parts of their NX strategy.

You're right, none of us know exactly what NX will be but one thing we do know is that your theory is wrong.

Actually it's THE KNOW and Boogie's videos, so it's their theory. I was just trying to figure out how it would work.

Nintendo did talk about the NX family of systems, so maybe one version will be a streaming box. Just speculation.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Eh whatever.

Glad the Wii U is dead.

It was a dumb idea from the get go and the entire Wii brand needs to be buried sooner than later, and in less than 10 months I'll be playing Nintendo games with at least PS4-fidelity (or at the least better than Wii U unless Nintendo has gone full retard). Good enough for me.

I have to admit part of me just wants to see Nintendo cancel the Wii U version of Zelda outright, lol. Make it for the NX and take full advantage of the hardware.

The problem is if the NX is going to be powerful it will also be expensive. Historically expensive Nintendo systems don't sell. People just don't see Nintendo products as premium merchandise. An inexpensive game streaming box would be cheap and would probably sell a lot more units.

All the hardcore Nintendo fans that would hate a streaming box and not purchase it would easily be replaced with casuals buying it. There are a lot more than 10 million people in the US with really good internet connections, and they could stream Nintendo games just fine.
