True, older Nintendo games would stream fine even with most people's internet connection.

THIS IS JUST MY SPECULATION: Maybe the NX will be a streaming box but will also have a hard drive. This way some of the game would be downloaded to use locally while the rest of the game streams from a server. Nintendo spent over half a billion dollars last year in R&D. Maybe they came up with a new way to stream games. END OF WILD CRAZY SPECULATION.

It is speculation, indeed! :D

Even if it hadn't been confirmed to be HW, we live in a world where that just isn't feasible. And for two main reasons at that:

The required broadband connection to make people forget it's a stream and not a disk, isn't available to the mass market.
Being a stream device would automatically cast aside all those users who want something physical or need it (to trade in for other games/money).

A console like this would just be the end of the Nintendo's home console - and Sony and MS's as well.

It's not that a stream NX SKU couldn't also exist, just not the only option.
