We'll find out tomorrow how acceptable it is, or how important resolution is

Firmware version 3.5 lets you stream PS4 games to your PC or Mac running Windows 8.1 or 10/OS 10.10/10.11.
Streaming will be available in resolutions up to 720p (the default is 540p) and in either 30fps (default) or 60fps.

I wonder if it can do both tv and streaming at the same time to compare lag.
Streaming to the WiiU gamepad is faster than my tv. I wonder how streaming to my laptop fares against the tv.

Please inform us how that goes. How laggy is it? Compared to Gamepad or Vita(TV)?

The Gamepad uses the 5GHz band to reduce the lag, and due to this it has a low range.
I'm assuming Remote Play is just streamed through your network? Even from outside?

FYI WiDi on my laptop and smartphone does lag noticeably.

I posted my findings in this thread
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=215495&page=2

It is laggy over wifi, neither my ps4 or laptop are wired. Direct wifi connection is not (yet?) supported.
Still playable, yet a bit blurry (max 10mbps) Definitely not WiiU gamepad quality.

As long as FPS remain high I'm really happy with 720p, it's more a gameplay thing for me

I still cannot see the difference between 1080p and 720p and yes I have two televisions with these settings and a PS4. I'm also pretty sure 90% of all gamers will not be able to see the difference in a direct comparison. If 720p can provide a better game performance so be it. I would've prefered UC4 in 720p/60fps instead of 1080p/30fps. Even with the lower resolution, the game would look much better in 60fps.

I'm pretty sure more gamers don't notice the difference between 30fps and 60fps than 720p and 1080p.
60fps does have the advantage of frame dips to be less noticeable, yet there are no glasses that make 60fps more noticeable...

I cannot imagine the average gamer to not notice difference between 30 and 60fps side by side. When I switch from Bloodborne (30fps) to MGSV (60fps), the difference is enormous to me and not even close to the noticable differences between 720p vs. 1080p. 60fps is way smoother and more responsive. I think this should be the focus when developing games.

I could easily say the same about 720p and 1080p side by side. I've just been testing PS4 remote play at 720p, looks blurry to me even in still screens. It's not as bad while playing, yet when I'm not paying attention to fast moving objects I can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 either. If I had the choice I would pick 1080p30 over 720p60.

in Gen 9, meaning when the NX rolls around, there will be no excuses to not have 1080p

Why? It's not like any resolution makes a game better!

its not a matter of game quality, its a metter of product quality. 720p looks fine, but even CELL PHONES are starting to have higher resolution

As long as it ain't PS2 graphics I'm fine.

720p is better than nothing.

My better half is watching American Idol, while I've been playing Life is Strange via PS4 remote play on my laptop. It works fine for slower paced games. I could have just bought it on Steam, but it was an impulse buy in a psn sale. (It's still more than twice as expensive on Steam) Actually looks pretty decent in a 1280x720 window, down scaling is always better than up. Would prefer a 1080p option though.

Of course it is, the notion that someone wouldn't play a great game because of the number of pixels on the screen is fairly sad, like what a terrible reason to miss out on a great game.

Still though 166 people clicking no means lots on here missing out on experiences for the most comic reason I could imagine, did ye not enjoy a single video game up until this/last gen? or worse yet, would those people play a shit game if it was running at 4k just because the extra pixels made them feel warm and fuzzy?

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Being primarily a PC gamer with a 1080p screen and a GTX 980, No, 720p really does not cut it unless the game is really, really good.

As I've said elsewhere, 720p is just fine by me.

Games like Star Wars Battlefront and Quantum Break on Xbox One or Mario 3D World and Captain Toad Treasure Tracker on Wii U look gorgeous at 1280x720 in my opinion.

Quantum Break looks gorgeous, im playing it right now. The art is very beautiful and the attention to detail is pretty amazing.

But in all honesty. It looks kind of blurry.

It gots tons of pop in, and i guess that the dynamic resolution makes the textures look unstable most of the times. Like they load when you get close to something and "unload" when you get away from that object.

But i have enjoyed the visuals from what ive seen (1st junction after act 3).

Pop-in is a separate issue from resolution, it's usually either a matter of how fast a game can stream data from disc or hard drive, and how far out it can afford to draw detail before it runs out of rendering budget. The two are sort of connected in that the higher the resolution, the easier it is to make out distant details, making LOD/pop-in more noticeable, but honestly I don't think QB's LOD issues are because it's running at 720p. It's probably just one of the sacrifices they made to keep performance solid while pushing as many effects as they do.
