I really hope the NX gets revealed in only a month. I'm getting sick and tired of waiting!

That was Nintendo's plan all along.

If the point of the detachable controllers is to use them at home while playing in the TV, why bother making them instead of going the easiest route of bundling a Pro Controller?

What company are we talking about?

NX, of course. I only used the Wii U Pro controller as an example of a traditional controller that would be more useful than the two detachable ones to play at home.

I believe the purpose is so that you have the ideal controller whether you're on the go or on the TV. There'll be two sets of detachable controllers, one for portable use (thin, circle pads) and one for home use (grips, sticks). Another idea people have brought up is local multiplayer on the go, but I don't see how that'd work with each player only using half a controller, certainly can't play Smash or Mario Kart with that set-up, and splitscreen on an already small screen seems impractical.

If one set of controllers wasn't enough, now you go and add a second one? Wouldn't it be easier if NX had buttons/joysticks (or circle pads) like a traditional handheld and then have a gamepad to play at home?

Usually, going simple is better.

That's basically what I suggested, except you'll have the options to use sticks/grips while on the go, use it without any controllers attached, and use circle pads on the TV if one actually prefers that.

I disagree with that in general and especially in this case. Having options is better than no options, and Nintendo has been really good about that with the Wii and Wii U. Gaming wouldn't have evolved to where it is now if things were kept simple.

Being simple and being more of the same are not the same thing. Wii had a revolutionary controller and Wii U tried the same thing, yet Nintendo kept things simple, wiimote & nunchuck for one and the Gamepad for the other.

What you are describing is two sets of detachable controllers to use and interchange depending on where or how you'll play, and that's not simple.

NX is a company?

It's about as simple as having to switch between Wiimote only, Nunchucks, Classic Controllers, Motion Plus, Gamecube Controllers, Balance Boards, and lol who am I kidding, this is even more simple. But anyway, simple is not better in this case.

How many Wii games (not Virtua Console ones) required the Classic controller? Or the Balance Board? Don't compare the hassle of having to use different controllers (that you had to buy separatedly) for a selected minority of games with having to use two sets of controllers for every game, depending on where/how you'll play.

Also, now that I think about it, how will those detachable controllers work? They will have to have their own battery to work, otherwise you couldn't use them when detached from the NX. How much will they weight? And what happens in the hypothetical (and not very likely to happen) case of one of them running out of power while the other and NX don't? Will they drain power from the NX unit to recharge?
