Being simple and being more of the same are not the same thing. Wii had a revolutionary controller and Wii U tried the same thing, yet Nintendo kept things simple, wiimote & nunchuck for one and the Gamepad for the other.
What you are describing is two sets of detachable controllers to use and interchange depending on where or how you'll play, and that's not simple.
