All things considered, it seems like she's just trying to weasel out of a contract.

No offense, but how someone looks and what they do for work should have absolutely no bearing on justice being upheld for them.  This case simply lacks any evidence to support her allegations, and she really hurt herself by giving sworn testimony to the contrary.  If indeed she was threatened into silence, it's abhorrent, and a terrible thing, but so is convicting an innocent individual.

I personally don't care for her music either, but that has absolutely nothing to do with what I've said thus far in this thread.  A crime doesn't become less severe because the victim creates music you don't appreciate.  This is where the term 'Justice is Blind' or 'Blind Justice' comes from.  It refers to impartiality, and the absence of bias.

Make no mistake, Hitler would've gotten his time in court, and would've been summarily executed at the Nuremburg trials (It's not like there wasn't mountains of evidence incriminating him).   I'm also not entirely certain who had ultimate authority at the Nuremburg trials, so I'm really not sure how that system was carried out (I don't know how other countries judicial systems differ from the US), but, given many of his top commanders were executed (unless they had scientific value, in which case...ugh, Operation Paperclip), I have no doubts Hitler would've received death.  Likewise with terrorists (again, evidence)

Now, as vile as they are, the Westboro Baptists have yet to actually do anything other than be awful people (as far as I'm aware).  As disgusting and heartless as I think they are, picketing a funeral isn't a crime.  And while we all despise what they have to say, that's the double edged sword of free speech.  With the good, also comes the bad. 

Like Osama, right? No, the guys who would have hypothetically caught Hitler would have likely killed him on sight. He wouldn't have made it. As for terrorists, if that were true we wouldn't have had G-bay.

And actually, picketing funerals IS a crime in many parts of the US and UK now due ENTIRELY to WBC. Even the KKK has disassociated themselves from WBC. They're too hateful for the KKK.

Yeah, I meant to put that in there.  The trial of Hitler (And Bin Laden) would've depended entirely upon taking them alive not many terrorists live to get that chance.   As far as G-Bay is concerned, I believe they are tried via military tribunal, not via a jury of their peers, which has been a subject of controversy in America (and worldwide, for that matter).

I wasn't aware picketing funerals had been deemed illegal.  Though, it's not entirely 100% illegal, there are restrictions upon where they can be (300 feet away from grieving family members), and when they can picket (cannot picket 2 hours before or after the funeral).  But, they're still allowed to protest/picket.  

Things like that hashtag bug me. So many court cases now feel like trial by social media, when in reality there are only two people who *truly* know what happened.

Whether most people choose to believe the accused or the victim (and I've seen plenty of instances of both) in cases like this, a lot of people make pat judgements as though they know exactly what happened, and they don't. It reveals some of the really ugly biases and preconceptions people can have about women, or men, or rape cases.

She really shot herself in the foot with her recklessness. It also doesn't help that she only started complaining when her career took a turn for the worse and her second album flopped.

Yeah, I hate the lynch mob mentality that comes with such cases. The fact that just saying that on Facebook would probably get me attacked and harrassed by hoards of angry people calling me a "rape apologist" goes to show just how insane the whole thing is.

I believe rapists should be severely punished, in fact I think they currently get off too lightly in terms of sentencing, but apparently I'm pro-rape because I believe people should be proven guilty by evidence, not by allegation alone.

Something that most people don't know is that Dr. Luke released notes that Ke$ha gave him, telling him he's the sexiest producer ever. Would a rape victim really do that?

If she's lying, I hope he sues her for defamation. If she's not, I hope they find evidence and he goes to jail, as he should.
