Forums - Gaming Discussion - If Sony made their own OS and if it could play PS4 games would you use it??.

They won't because they're going to be playing PS4 games through PSNow. Sony have this gen and the future of gaming well and truly sown up.

The PS5 Exists.

Sony is better with hardware. They will never make an OS worthwhile. If they did, I don't think it'd make the PS4 obsolete, because most hardware (PCs, TVs, Phones) that Sony makes are overpriced, albeit well made. Still, the console market is big because of the price point so I couldn't see a hypothetical Sony OS making a dent in that.

No. I have a PS4, why would I need my PC to play PS4 games?

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Impossible to know without the specifics ...

You would almost certainly have to buy an AMD GPU to be able to run PS4 games and then we have potential interfacing issues too with memory and interconnect ...

Ignoring these issues yes I would be buying the PS4 OS as I am primarily PC gamer but it still wouldn't make the PS4 not worth buying to many out there who don't want to deal with the DIY PC BS ...

If that happened the PS4 would be no longer worth buying to ME ...

No. The end.

Don't think so, no.

It would be a couple of decades behind and even then competing against Windows, OSX, and Linux, even being free wouldn't help it. If it was ideally better than other OSes in utlility not just gaming, it would be a legitamate reason to forgoe the console for the OS.

Especially if you can just buy a PS4 or XB1 controller and play it like that.

No not really. I'm a single OS kind of guy, I'm not into dual booting and splitting up games to be locked to so many other OS's and then stores which are then locked to clients effectively starts to become triple to quadruple layers of DRM and I just can't rock with that and it creates too much of a hassle.

Besides that I'd rather a Western OS than a Japanese one at the end of the day considering the Western side has made more pushes than the East.

Also no mod support or Steam like sales with tons if not all 3rd party support gets a total nope from me as well.

No, fair easier to just own a ps4 and Vita, job done.
