I think black America is way too.... dependent on white America. Always looking for acceptance, recognition or approval in one form or another. F@#k that shit. I feel they need to develop their own communities and control their own finances/industries so that crap like this wont even bother them. Case in point Bollywood, think Indians give a f@#k about the Oscars? Hell no

When you have an institution (Hollywood) where there are a lot more white actors than there are black, there are going to be situations where you only have white actors up for awards.

Also, Jada probably shouldn't go to any award show after her atrocious acting in Gotham.

Normally stuff like this ends up being bs but I have heard multiple times that straight out of Compton and Creed deserved some recognition so maybe there is some legitimacy to this

If I recall correctly, the reason they are sitting out is because there are no actors being nominated in the "best" categories (I think there are 4 of those categories total) not because movies themselves aren't being recognized.  It is entirely possible that both of those movies are up for awards, but since there are no individual achievement nominations, they are sitting out.

I personally believe there should be more outrage over Johnny Depp not getting a nomination for his portrayal of Whitey Bulger in Black Mass. The movie was a bit dry in some parts but he was phenomenal.

I will say though that Straight Outta Compton should have at least had a Best Picture nomination.

Can't wait for the day when the academy awards goes back to just nominating white folks...... Oh wait.
Notice how lately white actors are being nominated for horrible proformances mean while actors of color that performed great across the board are no where to be seen on the nomination list.
Flawed system in place, not saying they are raciest but the system used to nominate people is shit broken.
