Has any of your consoles ever broken down?

I had the infamous Ds lite hinge break. Only thing that ever broke for me. I did a case swap to fix it, so it wasn't anything serious.

That material weakness reminds me of Macbook Pro charger cables though. I my experience they just sort of self destruct after about two years of use. They start showing cracks in the pvc jacket that erratically get bigger and bigger until the jacket turns into this ugly mess revealing the cable underneath. My current one is practically made out of insulating tape right now, because the chargers are expensive.

Depends.

My PS3 broke a couple years ago, YLoD, 60GB fat, but not permanently. I fixed it and it's still working fine. So discounting that, none ever.

Also, some of you guys... If I had something break on me twice or more due to it's own design flaws I would have said "f* that" and never bought that particular company's hardware again.

Two guesses on why I left Sony and never came back... the first one doesn't count...

Oh shut the hell up already.

Well damn, you're being harsh here.

EDIT: Alan Wake killed my OG 360, and I once dropped my 3DS, made a backflip in the air and crashed into the ground shattering its upper screen completely. Can't blame Nintendo on that one, though.

Just my PS2, after about 7 years, it stopped reading discs.

The SNES I had just stopped working after a hurricane. My PS started scratching discs after two or three years. My first fat PS2 fell on its front, and the disc tray got stuck with GTA3 inside it. My second fat PS2 stopped reading disks. My next PS2, the slim one, started scratchIng disks. The other worked perfectly until a few years ago. My first PS3, the fat, had the YLOD. My second one that was a Slim, perished thanks to my butterfingers. My third one, which it's a Super Slim, still works, even if it sounds like a hairdryer sometimes.

I remember when i was younger my sister snapped the top screen off of my DS Lite, but other than that, none of my consoles have failed on me, of which are my 3DS, Wii, Wii U, GBA, GB Micro, PS3 and original DS.

My original day one xbox 360 used to overheat and get three red rings. It wouldn't work for like a day after that. Also I got a used ps3 that died after like a month. And now my just out off warranty 359.99 pound ps4 is broke. Thanks Sony.

Happened to me during the PS2 gen a lot. I think I broke 2 PS2s. I say I broke them because I kept playing pirate DVDs that my dad used to bring back in bags full from China and I used to also use action replay. I think this caused the laser to burn out quicker.

However, whatever the reason may be, I learnt my lesson. Since then I always trade in my console for a newer model instead of waiting for the old model to die. I did it with the PS3 with the exception of the ugly model they released right at the end and I've done it with my PS4 by getting the slightly newer one.

Yes... my PS3 and my 360... they just stopped working.

No Nintendo machine has ever stopped working for me.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

The first playstation died on me after 5 years
