Week 50, 2015 (Dec 07 - Dec 13)

Week 51, 2015 (Dec 14 - Dec 20)

Week 53, 2015 (Dec 28 - Jan 03)

December

- Biggest month of the year as usual, with the biggest software and hardware sales of all.

- The New Nintendo 3DS LL ended the year as the best selling system, and won the YTD race agains the PS4 with a pretty big margin, 3DS also leads the software side by a huge margin in both the month and the year. As expected the Nintendo systems were the biggest on the holiday as the Wii U was behind the 3DS in both hardware and software sales, with Minecraft, Vita is now selling to a new demographic and had a more typical Nintendo holiday rather than a Sony one, the system, as well as the PS4 did well, while the PS3 is dying a swift dead, Xbox One already dead.

- Monster Hunter X was the best selling game of the month once again, this December was odd as there was no large release as usual, so the big November game led the charge, the biggest game of December, Monster Strike, did well though, apart from that Holidays kept the Yokai Watch, Splatoon and Super Mario Maker going, great results for all of them. We also had some old games returning with big sales such as Minecraft Vita (now the best selling retail game on the system), Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and Rhythm Heaven: The Best +. Fallout 4, Mario & Luigi also did great, Gundam Vita did alright given the quality of the game.

What to expect next month?

Big drops for everything!

Not much else from that, of course hardware and software totals will take a huge dive, nothing too big happening in January.

As far as notable releases go 3DS will be getting a couple with CardFight!! Vanguard G: Stride to Victory!! on the 14th (18 days of tracking) and Hyrule Warriors: Legends on the 21st (11 days of tracking), Wii U will be getting Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash on the 28th (4 days of tracking). PlayStation systems usually get the biggest releases on the first half of the year, this time is no different, PS3, PS4 and PSV will be getting Odin Sphere: Leifdrasir on the 14th (18 days of tracking) and Dragon Quest: Builders on the 28th (4 days of tracking), PS3 and PS4 will also be getting Resident Evil 0 HD, Just Cause 3 and the Yakuza Remake all on the 21st (11 days of tracking) as well as Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 on the 28th (4 days of tracking).

The only one that qualifies as a big release is Dragon Quest Builders, with the huge success of Minecraft it'll be interesting to see how the game performs throughout the year, price will hurt it, but the Dragon Quest brand might help it. I don't see it as the big game for the month (the Vita SKU that is) due to the timing of the release, so Monster Hunter X should be on top of the chart for three months straight with Monster Strike following behind.

How Splatoon and Mario Maker keep going will be interesting to see as well, Wii U won't be getting noteworthy games for the next two months, with the Holidays over, it'll be interesting to see how those games carry the system, same goes for Minecraft, though the Vita lineup isn't nearly as barren. New 3DS LL should also be the best selling hardware.

In a few days I'll make a thread detailing further software and hardware performances for the whole year, as well as the best selling games per system, so these small lists are kind of pointless this time, but whatever.

The 3DS basically had an AMAZING LINEUP in terms of software last year. Which the other competitors did not mangaed to get close to it. The handheld is reaching its final breath but it still continues to SLAY everything.

And Wow! Not surprised in Nintendo dominating the top 10 software chart.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Monster Hunter is a beast over there. After the 3DS gets replaced, the battle for which system gets the MH games will be amazing: the PS4 or the NX? Probably both, though.

Also, Minecraft is quickly reaching that million units sold in Japan. Will it be the first Vita game to reach 1m in Japan?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Yup, nothing surprising in the top 10 for the best selling games in Japan last year.

That nintendo domination.

Fallout 4 and rainbow 6 did excellent for Western titles. They just keep getting stronger and stronger on Playstation.

Nice, good numbers especially for the 3DS

Looking at the X1 numbers makes even me sad.

Dang, way to go Nintendo. Despite getting lesser games, you still do pretty well.

Also, おつかれkylee.
