9 days? How did you count that? It's 12 days.

I live in the U.S.  Star Wars released on the 18th for me. If it reaches 1 billion by Saturday/Sunday(the twenty-sixth/seventh), that would mean it took 9(or ten) days.

Unless you're talking about 1 billion domestically, you can't base it on the domestic release date.

That doesn't translate:

A movie ticket was $0.23 in 1939, and minimum wage was $0.28.

A movie ticket is $8.34 today, and minimum wage is $7.25.

That means that a ticket was less than minimum wage, and a ticket is now more.

29 states and dc have a higher minimum wage than the federal minimum. that wasn't the case then.

Ticket prices vary by state. States with a higher minimum wage usually have higher ticket prices.

I really hope for it to not surpass 1B. it is not worthy.

It very well could be a billion dollar movie in just the domestic box office.
For every movie that does well there are those who like it and those who don't. Personally I'd love to see it get over 3 billion.

For me I would like it to reach $3.44 billion.

That was very specific?

Interesting point: the EU/dollar exchange rate is more favorable than it has been in years, so selling as many tickets as JW or Avatar (especially the latter) will result in greater dollar profits.

Some food for thought.

Actually it is the other way around, during Avatar's run it was more favorable (as in the dollar being a lot weaker than the EU), now it is almost tied which will result in less dollar profits.

If memory serves me right, during Avatar's run, 1EU=~1.40$ so that meant 1 billion euros would translate into 1.4 billion dollars, while right now 1EU=~1.10$ which would mean 1 billion euros would equal around 1.1 billion dollars, a loss of $300 million.

Ah, ok. My bad

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

The Force Awakens will have better legs then JW plus there is really no serious competion that will slow down its legs anytime soon.

It's hilarious how so many other movies got ignored because they were released near Star Wars.

As if they have a chance.

Daddy's Home will do very well this week-end actually.

2015 - Star Wars: The Force Awakens
2016 - Rogue One
2017 - Star Wars Episode 8
2018 - Untitled Han Solo Movie
2019 - Star Wars Episode 9
2020 - Untitled Boba Fett Movie

I guarantee, if the Force Awakens makes over $2 billion and Rogue One makes over $1 billion, then coming 2020 or 2021 we will get 2 Star Wars movies per year.

There are a few cut sections of the movie to make the length shorter. I believe Phasma had more scenes that were cut out. And theres a maskless picture of Kylo Ren in the snow with some snow troopers which I assume was cut as well

If true I'd but that version as loved that character...and she did nothing and was in maybe five minutes.
