Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Videos games SHOULD NOT be difficult... (It hurts the Video Game)

Lol.

First of all, there are much more difficult games than the Nintendo ones you listed. Those are actually quite easy.

Second, I guess you have the right to your opinion. But just because you lack the skillset/coordination and/or motor skills to play and complete a difficult game doesn't mean that everybody does.

A quick look at the millions of Souls/Bloodborne fans we have shows that people enjoy the challenge.

I'm completely the opposite. Easy video games bore the hell out of me, and are the ones I find the least memorable. I play to have fun, and when I button mash to pass content - where's the fun?

I think every game should aspire to give a challenge, though not an insane one. One that gives you small hurdles to overcome.
They do need to add measures to reduce the frustration so you dont lose a huge ammount of your time when you fail, otherwise you ditch the whole series. So, im in agreement with that.

Keep them with some level of challenge, but reduce the frustration from failing. Allow the player to not feel punished but motivated to do better.

Did the OP seriously claim that NSMBU is harder than classic Mario games? NSMBU is in the top 5 easiest Mario games I've ever played for sure. The 100% has an awful lot of challenge to it, but just beating the game can be easily done in an afternoon with very few deaths. OP also claimed that NSMBU didn't sell well when it has an attach rate of like 40%+ and is second best-selling game on Wii U only behind Mario Kart.

Somebody mail this guy copies of Contra, Castlevania III, and Ninja Gaiden so he can see what a hard game ACTUALLY is... not the hand-holding NSMBU.

BTW I can beat the original Contra without the 30 lives code in my sleep, and have beat it on multiple occasions without dying once.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

All games should have a difficulty slider, but they shouldn't just be easy... some people like challenge. Others want to power through the story...

In a serious note about difficulty, I think my favorite one in terms on settings has been the one in Kid Icarus Uprising, there is pretty much a difficulty level for any kind of player in that game, and I'm glad the same system appeared in Smash Bros.

Post a picture of you completing Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze with 200% then.

1 - I'm fine with games being difficult, especially when they start out easy and build up your skills to difficult levels.. I would say Super Mario is a great example actually..

2 - Having a difficulty setting is nice, making it as hard or as easy as you want it to especially for RPGs, when I get lazy from grinding, but I don't feel it's a must have or anything..

Agreed, just adding.

1- That may be a valid criticism against Donkey Kong though. The difficulty ramps up way faster than in Mario (and it is already harde in the beginning), but because of the way it looks people may believe they are interchangeable

A difficulty level indicator in the case could be nice. Games are expensive and you may ending buying one that is just too hard for you by mistake.

2- Loved the options to customize the gameplay in Bravely Default.
