Forums - Gaming Discussion - FF XIII PS3 only or possibly multiplatform?

I think you forget that the PS3 is overpriced. I am not saying make the thing $179, i mean bring it down into the market to the point it should have released at. $399 for your entry level console is just to high. If it was $299 you would think Sony was dropping it, and would not buy it? That's is the magic number that the PS3 needs to hit.

Again, if they drop the price too much too soon, it just doesnt work.  Sure its overpriced, but thats the path that Sony has taken, if they drop it to 299$, which will then put it just 50$ more than the Wii, it may not send good signals, especially so soon.  Sure they have to do something, but also if they drop the price again so soon, the shareholders will not like it.  They are in a very tricky position.  Again its all about Pricing, drop it too soon too suddenly, people start thinking its all bad.

Releasing the 40gb at a much cheaper price was a very smart move though, I'll give sony huge credit for that.  Was a good idea as it seems as though its much cheaper.  Trying it again may result in similar results.

@Euphoria14, did you even read what I said ? apparently you didnt, maybe next time read it, just taking part of the quote instead of it all is cherry picking.

More simply : MS said themselves a few months back that despite all their efforts, they were unable to secure two major licences for the X360 : MGS and FF.

Final fantasy at its current state cannot run on the Xbox 360.

The developer wants to make the game epic, and beyond anyones beliefs.

The "in game" screens I have seen testifies this, why would they port FF XIII after Lost odessey selling below expectations? Besides like stated I dont believe the 360 will be able to run FF XIII, since it will be the first game to push the PS3.

How much did you expect for LO?  In the West it is exceeding expectations.

Final Fantasy could run on the Xbox 360 just fine.  You'd probably see some sacrifices tantamount to the slight PS3 inferiority on Rainbow Six Vegas 2.  You have to understand that the power difference between the PS3 and Xbox 360 for gaming purposes really is negligible.

Final Fantasy XIII WONT be on the Xbox 360, but the reason isn't technical or sales based.  Sony simply will have paid a truckload of money.

I think he means , because it is utilizing the spes of the ps3 it would be harder to port to the xbox 360.

PC's with Blu-ray gaming disks now that would be a great idea.
They could make a future FF game on PC but considering how FF VII and FVIII flopped on PC it is highly unlikely that an FF game will ever be on PC again.

Final Fantasy XI says hi. >__> Who's the noob now?

The games on the 360 and ps3 have only been comparable so far because the ps3's power hasnt really been used. People should judge whether the console is actually "way more powerful" when big titles like MGS4 and final fantasy hit. Besides, with Lost Odyssey being 4 discs, FFXIII would be like 7. Horrible idea, and on the 'paying them truckloads of money' the exclusivity for FXIII was decided a LONG time ago, they don't need to pay them 'truckloads of money'.

The 360's power hasn't been fully used either.

MGS4 does not look that graphically impressive, it is it's gameplay that will accord it AAA status (hopefully).

If FFXIII was 7 DVD9's, it would require 2 Blu-Ray disks.  Thats code for 'it wont happen.'

Finally, SE is a BUSINESS!!! If you don't think they were dangling non-exclusivity in front of Sony's face six months ago when PS3 sales were dismal to force more money from them your crazy.  Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the SE CEO's comments that the PS3 needs a price cut were the main driver behind the creation of the 40gb.

Final Fantasy XIII WILL stay PS3 exclusive, like MGS4. Seriously why do we have to doubt every PS3 exclusive? I don't see the same happening with Wii/360 exclusives. If you really want to play those games buy a PS3!
