Forums - Politics Discussion - Cracked: Why comparing Trump to Hitler makes Perfect Sense

Comparing him to Hitler is a bit extreme. That being said, I find his xenophobia incredibly disturbing.

I mean, it's Cracked so I'm not even gonna touch on everything wrong in the article, but the first thing in your post, about "enforcing laws making you Hitler" I do have to disagree with. Not the Hitler part, obviously that's not true lol, but enforcing an outdated law isn't necessarily a good thing as your phrasing seems to imply. I could be mislabeling your tone there, if so ignore me, but there's a lot that needs to be fixed with our immigration system before we can really start enforcing them in good conscience. Personally, because I have some people close to me that are affected by this issue, I'm happy with the White House essentially ignoring the problem of illegal immigration until Congress will work to help make the laws more reasonable, or at least give those already breaking these laws the chance to come forth and legalize themselves without fear of losing everything.

No matter how you look at it, though, whether you agree or not with my stance on that, it's absolutely asinine to run a campaign solely on "let's send them all back!" and we all know this. Sadly racism is so apparent in this country that somebody can be outright racist against a fifth of the country and lead in the primaries. But I'll get off my soapbox now.

How is taking a stance against illegal migrants related to racism?

Here's a story:

When I was in middle school, there was this law that was being voted on for whether or not it would become a thing. This law (at least in Texas, I dunno) was going to forcibly round up illegal immigrants and send them home. It was sick a big deal that all the Mexicans in school doesn't show up for class. The point was to show how empty the schools would be, or something like that, when all it really did was make the school seem less crowded. When I asked a teacher where all the Hispanic kids were, he explained the law and the "strike" to me, and I was confused.

"But... I thought they did that anyway? They're breaking a law by being here without papers, and immigrants are to be deported instead of being detained."

It made a lot of sense to me, but what didn't make sense was this isn't the case. I found out that a lot of kids I went to school with were illegal, too. Kids whose parents lived here illegitimately and didn't pay taxes were having their children taught/raised in schools paid for by others.

They're here illegally. Regardless of the reasons, they're breaking the law by being here. Rather than fighting to keep them here illegally, we should be fighting to make it easier for them to legally be here, right?

Trump literally promised to deport legal Hispanic immigrants too and said that the citizenship by birthright clause of the 14th amendment was wrong. Also he has openly stated that we shouldn't accept the outpouring of Syrian immigrants because they might be ISIS and he promised to deport them too. I'm fairly surprised he hasn't said that blacks should be deported too by this point. But then again, he also thinks he has the black vote in the bag.

Trump has time and again made sexist, racist, and pretty much any other "ist" remarks, and his stance on immigration reform is directly tied to that. Hence the relation to racism.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

this type of stuff appeals to low information voters who want to seem compassionate or that they're 'on the right side of history'. in other words useful idiots eager to trash the country they're inheriting

Trump is the only guy that's going to put America and Americans first, everyone else is a shill

You clearly haven't been there in a while. It used to be a humour site. It is not anything of the sort anymore.

Cracked used to offer humorous and educational articles. Times have changed.

Seriously, these points boil down to Trump blaming immigration for everything he can get away with, appealing to the poor, being a part of the current trend in prison use, and having reads some stuff by Hitler back during his free time in 1990. I read some stuff by Karl Marx back in 2007, does that make me a Communist?

Remember that time a few years ago when Donald Trump stormed a political rally backed by hundreds of men armed with machine guns, declaring an overthrow of the government before a gunfight with the police?

Me neither.

Love and tolerate.
