Forums - Nintendo Discussion - IGN Names Their Top 25 Wii U Games

So this is a yearly thing they do for every current system, and it seems that it's once again for them to make a list of their favorite 25 Wii U games.

And if you're lazy, then here's the list for your viewing entertainment:

25. Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition
24. Disney Infinity 3.0
23. Hyrule Warriors
22. Kirby & the Rainbow Curse
21. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
20. New Super Luigi U
19. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
18. Stealth Inc. 2: A Game of Clones
17. Affordable Space Adventures
16. SteamWorld Dig
15. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
14. Lego City Undercover
13. Rayman Legends
12. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
11. New Super Mario Bros. U
10. NES Remix 1&2
9. Splatoon
8. Pikmin 3
7. Shovel Knight
6. Bayonetta 2
5. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
4. Super Smash Bros. For Wii U
3. Super Mario 3D World
2. Mario Kart 8
1. Super Mario Maker

I was a bit surprised to see Super Mario Maker as their number 1 choice, as it just came out not even a week ago, but then again they've had a lot more time with the game and really seemed to resonate with the entire IGN team.

Bayonetta 2 and Splatoon should be higher that the legend of zelda wind waker

IGN still denying the quality of The Wonderful 101, I see. I also can't believe Tropical Freeze is so low.

Ah well, I'm mostly satisfied with the top 6 at least. Although I'd replace one of them with Splatoon.

Edit: Wait, why is TW101 #25 in the article but not in the video? Looks like someone didn't proof-read.

Edit 2: This list is actually pretty poor, I feel. They have some multiplats, but are missing some great ones. Why is Disney Infinity 3.0 here but not Deus Ex? Why Assassin's Creed 4 but not Arkham City, or Tekken Tag Tournament 2? And there are an overwhelming number of indie platformers. Why games like Guacamelee and Stealth Inc 2 but not Art Academy: Home Studio or Pushmo World? Just seems like they're perpetuating a stereotype here with a halphazard list.

What's funny is that the story has TW101 as #25, despite the banner (and video) stating it's Guacamelee.

Their subconscious loves the game apparently.

Yeah I actually noticed that too and edited my post, lol.

Kinda weird. It absolutely deserves to be on the list, even higher than #25 I'd say.

Let me be the first to make the lame joke: There Are 25 Wii U Games!?! lol

Donkey Kong is way too low, though.

Not a bad list, but I do think that some titles should be a bit higher, and some titles like W101 deserve some recognition.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

PFFF As much as I like Shovel Knight, seeing it above Splatoon makes me want to killl a hipster.

Also Tropical Freeze #21 while NSLU is #20 and NSMBU is #11, just NO.

shantae and the pirates curse don't even list. Disney Infinity in 24th. Laughable

... because it is the opinion of a random guy? And, in all honesty, Black Flag can be good sometimes, so seeing at a high position it's not weird.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.
