Forums - Gaming Discussion - Does exclusivity increase your enjoyment of a game?

Is it better if it's exclusive?

Hell Yeah! 98 32.03%

Couldn't care less. 145 47.39%

EA sucks 63 20.59%

Total:306

i enjoy exclusive games more because they are better most of the times.

It's not about if a game is exclusive for just the sake of being exclusive. What matters is which console has the games that I want to play or how many games does a console have/will have of the genres that I like. Exclusivity ties into that because a game will be on one platform or a few platforms versus all of 'em.

Personally, I will bring up lists when other gamers try to spread misinformation.

No example of online being taken from games people were still playing just to force them to buy the updated sequel?  You drawing a blank, here?

Games being taken down from online to promote new games... EA sports games.

Or Gran Turismo 5 / Mario Kart Wii in favor to GT6 / Mario Kart 8... the platform owners sometimes aren't much better. ;)

Also true. I bought Smash Bros. Brawl and NEVER got the online to work. Not once!

No. It doesn't inherently make a game better or more enjoyable, but an exclusive game is generally better than a multiplatform game by virtue of having to only focus on one platform.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Yes in some ways..

It doesn't increase my enjoyment of a game, but I will admit that I am more likely to pick up a game if it's an exclusive.

I don't know why. I guess there's something subconsciously alluring about the concept of exclusivity.

That was different for Nintendo. They didn't pull a EA. Gamespy died. They where the company running Wii servers.

No, it wasn't different for Nintendo. EA used the same GameSpy-excuse: http://www.ea.com/news/update-on-ea-titles-hosted-on-gamespy

The writing was on the wall since 2012 when the first batch of games using GameSpy lost online support. Nintendo, EA and other publishers had enough time to switch popular games to their own servers or buy the GameSpy servers or whatever.

How many other online Wii games, besides Smash and Kart, had active bases, at the time of Wii's termination? For the DS: Kart DS, And the Pokemon games. Which you can get around with moving your Pokemon to the next games. So it makes those games moot. Nintendo still has an out over that. EA doesn't. They have countless online games that people play. Which warrent making servers. Nintendo had really only two. Which one is still functional, thanks to fans. It be like making severs for the Weather Channel or News Channel. Just for two things? Not worth it.

No, only certain games interest me in the first place. Only action/racing and certain rpgs (basically mass effect and dragon age) games interest me. That is probably why I like Microsoft exclusives because they appeal to me more than Nintendo games (I do like Mario Kart however) or Sony exclusive games outside of naughty dog games / twisted metal.

How many action games does Microsoft have? I can't think of any other than shooters. Sony has Infamous and God Of War, so obviously your reason must be different or you like shooters and not action games.

Well nor can I. But you look at the level of excitement a game like Devils Third had been creating before release. Had it been a multiplatform game, I highly doubt it'd have been on anyone's radar after last year's E3 showing...

It just seems to be a key aspect in whether many on here consider playing a game or not.

this is my exact reason as to why uncharted is so overhyped theres no way that series would be talked about as much if it wasnt a ps exclusive especially when they desperately needed one

Lol, PS "desperately needs exclusives, so that's why Uncharted is considered good" . This one is hilarious.

What? Are you being serious? Uncharted 4 is so hyped because it's very likely the final game in one of the most beloved franchises of all time.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
