The experia phones are my favourite. I have a z3 compact right nowand am enjoying it very much. They are perfect for me as my job is outdoorsy and it's waterproof and sun glare resistance are awesome.

I'm interested in the Z5 compact I hope it isn't too expensive. The regular is too big for me but being 4k before the big players is impressive.

I'm on an Xperia M bought in 2013 atm. Low internal storage is a pain since they stopped allowing apps on the microSD card, it has a few minor scratches and the battery isn't what it was but still lasts 2-3 days of average use.

I'd buy the M4 aqua but it has only like 1GB user storage as the OS takes up so much.

Sony phones have lagged behind Samsung and HTC for a whole now and theres no excuse really, theve been in the game for a long time. The ''ericson'' phones were well ahead of their time.

Lagged behind in...what? Popularity sure, but in quality? I have an HTC now (One M8) and though it's a great phone, the only reason I got it was due to the lack of Xperia availability here in the States. Also, not a huge fan of Touchwhiz. But even spec for spec the Xperias line up with the Galaxys pretty well.

Can't believe MS loses so much per phone! :O I wonder how the Chinese manufacturers are doing though? 

Microsoft loses so much money per phone because they have to practically give their phones away for someone to accept them.

That seems bit of overkill. I don't think that would sway consumers to Xperia phones just based on the 4K resolution. It just becomes another gimmick feature that they can use in marketing.

Also Sony makes really good camera sensors as they supply them to other phone makers. Problem is in their phones the software is not as well optimized and holds back the hardware.

Still just a me too device. No amount of specs can change what Xperia on me too OS is. If Sony and Microsoft want to gain ground in mobile they have to go at it 100%. The idea that PlayStation and Xbox aren't championed by either in the mobile space is complete ignorance. There is a market of 250M people that have nowhere to turn right now. Vita and 3DS don't offer what they need, and Sony, Nintendo, and MS aren't giving them any alternetive. Instead, those people are just going to SS and AiP, because they are simple and its what their friends have.

You can not beat competition by doing the same exact thing they are doing. People don't leave one thing for something identical, it takes something fresh and exciting to get people to move from one love to the next. I am 100% against this phone, and for the first time in my life, I am actually telling people to buy non Sony products in a space where they compete.

Well, as long as Android is backing up this business for MS...
